Correlation of the differential expression of PIK3R1 and its spliced variant, p55α, in pan‐cancer
PIK3R1 undergoes alternative splicing to generate the isoforms, p85α and p55α. By combining large patient datasets with laboratory experiments, we show that PIK3R1 spliced variants shape cancer behavior. While tumors lose the protective p85α isoform, p55α is overexpressed, changes linked to poorer survival and more pronounced in African American ...

rtracklayer: an R package for interfacing with genome browsers
Summary: The rtracklayer package supports the integration of existing genome browsers with experimental data analyses performed in R. The user may (i) transfer annotation tracks to and from a genome browser and (ii) create and manipulate browser views to

In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

A standardized bacterial taxonomy based on genome phylogeny substantially revises the tree of life
Taxonomy is an organizing principle of biology and is ideally based on evolutionary relationships among organisms. Development of a robust bacterial taxonomy has been hindered by an inability to obtain most bacteria in pure culture and, to a lesser ...

Basroparib inhibits YAP‐driven cancers by stabilizing angiomotin
Basroparib, a selective tankyrase inhibitor, suppresses Wnt signaling and attenuates YAP‐driven oncogenic programs by stabilizing angiomotin. It promotes AMOT–YAP complex formation, enforces cytoplasmic YAP sequestration, inhibits YAP/TEAD transcription, and sensitizes YAP‐active cancers, including KRAS‐mutant colorectal cancer, to MEK inhibition.

Distribution and conservation of Banana Streak Virus (BSV) within banana Musa balbisiana genome : what impact on host and virus evolution ? [PDF]
The nuclear genome of several plants isinvaded by numerous viral sequences. These integrations correspond to accidental events mainly resulting from illegitimate recombination of DNA viruses belonging to the family Caulimoviridae with plant DNA whereas ...

Ecological genomics beyond genome reports
With ongoing advances in sequencing and bioinformatics, the availability of reference genomes is spreading rapidly across the tree of life. Through genomics-enabled research, we are increasingly able to study the biology that we are interested in for the species that we care about. This expands the scope of our field.
