Dryas as a Model for Studying the Root Symbioses of the Rosaceae

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2019
The nitrogen-fixing root nodule symbiosis is restricted to four plant orders: Fabales (legumes), Fagales, Cucurbitales and Rosales (Elaeagnaceae, Rhamnaceae, and Rosaceae). Interestingly all of the Rosaceae genera confirmed to contain nodulating species (

Ovarian Sex Cord Stromal Tumors in Children and Adolescents—The European Standard Clinical Practice Recommendations

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT As part of the European Cooperative Study Group for Paediatric Rare Tumours initiative, we developed standard clinical practice guidelines for ovarian sex cord stromal tumors, based on comprehensive national and international cohort analyses, literature review, and a final expert consensus conference.

Evolutionary Analysis by Whole-Genome Comparisons [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Bacteriology, 2002
ABSTRACTA total of 37 complete genome sequences of bacteria, archaea, and eukaryotes were compared. The percentage of orthologous genes of each species contained within any of the other 36 genomes was established. In addition, the mean identity of the orthologs was calculated.

A Population‐Based Study on Childhood Aplastic Anemia—Incidence, Outcomes, and Health‐Related Quality of Life

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Childhood aplastic anemia (AA) is a rare disease, and both the disease itself and its treatment cause significant morbidity. We aimed to determine the contemporary incidence of childhood AA in Finland, to compare the clinical characteristics of AA against inherited bone marrow failure syndromes (IBMFS) and refractory cytopenia of ...

Universal seeds for cDNA-to-genome comparison [PDF]

open access: yesBMC Bioinformatics, 2008
AbstractBackgroundTo meet the needs of gene annotation for newly sequenced organisms, optimized spaced seeds can be implemented into cross-species sequence alignment programs to accurately align gene sequences to the genome of a related species. So far, seed performance has been tested for comparisons between closely related species, such as human and ...

Comparative and phylogenetic analysis of complete chloroplast genomes from five Artemisia species

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2022
Artemisia Linn. is a large genus within the family Asteraceae that includes several important medicinal plants. Because of their similar morphology and chemical composition, traditional identification methods often fail to distinguish them.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

A Comparison of Microbial Genome Web Portals [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2019
Microbial genome web portals have a broad range of capabilities that address a number of information-finding and analysis needs for scientists. This article compares the capabilities of the major microbial genome web portals to aid researchers in determining which portal(s) are best suited to solving their information-finding and analytical needs.

Large Scale Genome Analysis Shows that the Epitopes for Broadly Cross-Reactive Antibodies Are Predominant in the Pandemic 2009 Influenza Virus A H1N1 Strain

open access: yesViruses, 2013
The past pandemic strain H1N1 (A (H1N1)pdm09) has now become a common component of current seasonal influenza viruses. It has changed the pre-existing immunity of the human population to succeeding infections.

Comparative Genomic Analysis and Species Delimitation: A Case for Two Species in the Zoonotic Cestode Dipylidium caninum

open access: yesPathogens, 2023
Dipylidium caninum (Linnaeus, 1758) is a common zoonotic cestode of dogs and cats worldwide. Previous studies have demonstrated the existence of largely host-associated canine and feline genotypes based on infection studies, differences at the 28S rDNA ...
