Structural Revision of the C16 Sesquiterpene Hegelenether and the Mechanism of C6‐Methylation in Terpene Biosynthesis

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, EarlyView.
The structure of the non‐canonical C16 sesquiterpene named hegelenether was revised to the structure of marxdiol, and its absolute configuration was assigned. Isotopic labeling experiments revealed the stereochemical course of the methyltransferase involved in its biosynthesis.

Data Mining for Simple Sequence Repeats in Oil Palm Expressed Sequence Tags [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Expressed Sequence Tags or ESTs are small pieces of DNA sequence that are generated by sequencing either one or both ends of an expressed gene. ESTs provide researchers with a quick and inexpensive route for discovering new genes, for obtaining data on ...

Genome Mining for New Enzyme Chemistry

open access: yesACS Catalysis
A revolution in the field of biocatalysis has enabled scalable access to compounds of high societal values using enzymes. The construction of biocatalytic routes relies on the reservoir of available enzymatic transformations. A review of uncharacterized proteins predicted from genomic sequencing projects shows that a treasure trove of enzyme chemistry ...

Plasma Proteomics Identifies TAOK3 as a Potential Biomarker of Rheumatoid Arthritis Activity and a Novel Therapeutic Target

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, Accepted Article.
Objective Bone destruction associated with active rheumatoid arthritis (RA) remains a major therapeutic challenge, with a lack of reliable molecular markers reflecting bone injury. This study aims to identify novel biomarkers linked to bone destruction in active RA through proteomic analysis, providing new strategies for precise monitoring and targeted

Dysregulation of U12‐Type Splicing in Lupus Neutrophils

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, Accepted Article.
Abstract. Objective Neutrophil dysfunction is a hallmark of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), but its molecular basis remains unclear. This study explores transcriptional and post‐transcriptional changes in low‐density granulocytes (LDGs), a proinflammatory neutrophil subset expanded in SLE, focusing on NADPH oxidase (Nox) function and minor intron ...

A Bifunctional Cytochrome P450 Enzyme Catalyzes Hydroxylation and Aryl‐Aryl Ether Formation in the Biosynthesis of Emestrin

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Conversion of emestrin J (5) to emestrin (1) by three P450 enzymes from the cluster (eme) in Emericella quadrilineata. EmeO acts as a bifunctional enzyme for the construction of the 15‐membered lactone ring via an aryl‐aryl ether bond formation and simultaneous hydroxylation between phenolic and nonphenolic aromatic rings, while EmeE and EmeR install ...
