The anti‐CRISPR protein AcrIE8.1 inhibits the type I‐E CRISPR‐Cas system by directly binding to the Cascade subunit Cas11

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we present the structure of AcrIE8.1, a previously uncharacterized anti‐CRISPR protein that inhibits the type I‐E CRISPR‐Cas system. Through a combination of structural and biochemical analyses, we demonstrate that AcrIE8.1 directly binds to the Cas11 subunit of the Cascade complex to inhibit the CRISPR‐Cas system.

Polypyrrole‐boosted photothermal energy storage in MOF‐based phase change materials

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Materials, 2023
Infiltrating phase change materials (PCMs) into nanoporous metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) is accepted as a cutting‐edge thermal energy storage concept. However, weak photon capture capability of pristine MOF‐based composite PCMs is a stumbling block in ...

Analysis of the Mitogenomes of Two Helotid Species Provides New Insights into the Phylogenetic Relationship of the Basal Cucujoidea (Insecta: Coleoptera)

open access: yesBiology, 2023
Helotid beetles are commonly found in places where sap flows from tree trunks and in crevices in bark. The Helotidae family is a rare and primitive group of Cucujoidea. To date, no complete mitochondrial (mt) genome has been sequenced for this family. To

Complex-Dynamical Extension of the Fractal Paradigm and Its Applications in Life Sciences [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Complex-dynamical fractal is a hierarchy of permanently, chaotically changing versions of system structure, obtained as the unreduced, causally probabilistic general solution of arbitrary interaction problem (physics/0305119, physics/9806002).

An intracellular transporter mitigates the CO2‐induced decline in iron content in Arabidopsis shoots

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study identifies a gene encoding a transmembrane protein, MIC, which contributes to the reduction of shoot Fe content observed in plants under elevated CO2. MIC is a putative Fe transporter localized to the Golgi and endosomal compartments. Its post‐translational regulation in roots may represent a potential target for improving plant nutrition ...

High-throughput screening of bimetallic metal–organic frameworks for efficient generation of reactive oxygen species

open access: yesJPhys Energy
Currently, the issue of bacterial drug resistance is becoming increasingly severe. Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) are considered ideal catalysts for reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation and antibacterial applications due to their superior properties,

Tightened 1D/3D carbon heterostructure infiltrating phase change materials for solar–thermoelectric energy harvesting: Faster and better

open access: yesCarbon Energy, 2023
Extensive use of thermal energy in daily life is ideal for reducing carbon emissions to achieve carbon neutrality; however, the effective collection of thermal energy is a major hurdle.

Sequence organisation and conservation at homeologous regions ln the recent allotetraploid coffee (Coffea arabica L.) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Coffee is one of the world's largest traded commodities produced in more than 60 countries. Coffee species belong to the Rubiaceae family and commercial coffee production relies mainly on two closely related species: Coffea arabica and C.

Global divergence of microbial genome sequences mediated by propagating fronts

open access: yes, 2005
We model the competition between recombination and point mutation in microbial genomes, and present evidence for two distinct phases, one uniform, the other genetically diverse.
