Association of Metabolic Profiles with Hepatic Fibrosis in Chronic Hepatitis C Patients with Genotype 1 or 2 Infection

open access: yes, 2011
Background and Aims: Metabolic profiles are associated with severity of liver histology in chronic hepatitis C (CHC) infection. However, the influence of hepatitis C virus (HCV) genotypes, especially genotype 1 and 2, on the association between metabolic

Forage yield and quality traits of vetch genotypes across two locations in Western Tigray, Northern Ethiopia

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences & Environment
Vetch (Vicia spp.) is a promising forage legume for Ethiopian livestock systems, but limited information exists on genotype performance across diverse environments. This study evaluated forage yield, quality, and agronomic traits of four vetch genotypes (

Genomic and Pathogenic Characteristics of Virulent Newcastle Disease Virus Isolated from Chicken in Live Bird Markets and Backyard Flocks in Kenya

open access: yesInternational Journal of Microbiology, 2020
Newcastle disease (ND) causes significant economic losses in the poultry industry in developing countries. In Kenya, despite rampant annual ND outbreaks, implementation of control strategies is hampered by a lack of adequate knowledge on the circulating ...

p190A/ARHGAP35 and p190B/ARHGAP5 proteins in endometrial cancer: a novel cancer‐relevant paralog interplay

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study identifies ARHGAP5, in addition to the frequently mutated ARHGAP35, as significantly mutated in endometrial cancer. Mutations in both genes co‐occur and are associated with their correlated downregulation. Functional CRISPR studies show that both paralogs regulate similar pathways, including actin cytoskeleton organization.

Entire genome sequence analysis of genotype IX Newcastle disease viruses reveals their early-genotype phylogenetic position and recent-genotype genome size

open access: yesVirology Journal, 2011
Background Six nucleotide (nt) insertion in the 5'-noncoding region (NCR) of the nucleoprotein (NP) gene of Newcaslte disease virus (NDV) is considered to be a genetic marker for recent genotypes of NDV, which emerged after 1960.

Engineering IL‐4 resistant proinflammatory human myeloid cells for cancer immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed a scalable workflow to generate proinflammatory human myeloid cells. CRISPR/Cas9‐edited CD34+ hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells were expanded and differentiated with M‐CSF. Deletion of STAT6 or STAT6/NFKB1 enhanced macrophage proinflammatory gene expression and cytokine secretion in the presence of IL‐4 while maintaining antibody ...

Study of the unknown vine genotype found in Abkhazia

open access: yesBIO Web of Conferences, 2020
The territory of Abkhazia belongs to the region of origin of the cultivated grapevine. Wild forms, intermediate forms between wild and cultivated grapevines and a variety of local native cultivars grow here.

Spatial heterogeneity of hotspot mutations and clonal relatedness in ovarian endometrioid carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Spatially resolved analysis revealed heterogeneous distributions of selected cancer‐associated mutations within ovarian endometrioid carcinomas. Shared mutations between paired endometrial and ovarian tumors supported clonal relatedness. These findings highlight the value of sampling multiple tumor regions when interpreting molecular profiles ...

Genotype-phenotype relationships in clonal BFU-E colonies derived from edited hematopoietic stem/progenitor cells.

open access: yes, 2019
A) Workflow depicting erythroid colony (BFU-E) formation genotype/phenotype assay using edited HSPC. HSPC were edited using RNPs targeting the desired region, plated in methocult, and colonies were grown for 14 days.

Does angiotensin-1 converting enzyme genotype influence motor or cognitive development after pre-term birth? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Background Raised activity of the renin-angiotensin system (RAS) may both amplify inflammatory and free radical responses and decrease tissue metabolic efficiency and thus enhance cerebral injury in the preterm infant.
