Characterization of a Novel Cotton Subtilase Gene GbSBT1 in Response to Extracellular Stimulations and Its Role in Verticillium Resistance. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
Verticillium wilt is a disastrous vascular disease in plants caused by Verticillium dahliae. Verticillium pathogens secrete various disease-causing effectors in cotton.

Loss of proton‐sensing TDAG8 increases tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the pH‐sensing receptor TDAG8 accelerates colorectal cancer progression in mice. Animals lacking TDAG8 expression had increased tumor growth, DNA damage, and recruitment of tumor‐associated immune cells, including macrophages, neutrophils, and monocytes.

Fc‐gamma receptor polymorphisms, cetuximab therapy, and overall survival in the CCTG CO.20 trial of metastatic colorectal cancer

open access: yesCancer Medicine, 2018
Background Two germ line Fc‐γ receptor (FCGR) polymorphisms, rs1801274 [FCGR2A; His(H)131Arg(R)] and rs396991 [FCGR3A; Phe(F)158Val(V)], produce altered proteins through amino acid substitutions.

First evidence of the presence of genotype-1 of Japanese encephalitis virus in Culex gelidus in Indonesia

open access: yesParasites & Vectors, 2019
Background Japanese encephalitis has become a public health threat in Indonesia. Three genotypes have been recorded in Indonesia, i.e. genotype II (GII), genotype III (GIII) and genotype IV (GIV).

Amino Acid at Position 166 of NS2A in Japanese Encephalitis Virus (JEV) Is Associated with In Vitro Growth Characteristics of JEV

open access: yesViruses, 2020
We previously showed that the growth ability of the Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV) genotype V (GV) strain Muar is clearly lower than that of the genotype I (GI) JEV strain Mie/41/2002 in murine neuroblastoma cells.

Spatial and single‐nuclei transcriptomics reveals idiosyncratic and generic patterns in papillary and anaplastic thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Matched spatial transcriptomics and single‐nuclei RNA‐seq were generated for anaplastic and BRAFV600E papillary thyroid cancers revealing generic and tumor‐specific states occurring in cancer cells and in the tumor microenvironment. In this context, cancer dedifferentiation mirrored organoid maturation through ordered thyroid marker gain/loss ...

Association between Glutathione S-Transferase GSTM1-T1 and P1 Polymorphisms with Metabolic Syndrome in Zoroastrians in Yazd, Iran

open access: yesIranian Journal of Public Health, 2015
Background: The aim of this study was to assess the possible association between genetic polymorphisms of the glutathione S-transferase (GST) gene family and the risk of the development of metabolic syndrome (MS) in Zoroastrian females in Yazd, Iran ...

First detection and molecular characterization of a DENV‐1/DENV‐4 co‐infection during an epidemic in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, 2018
Key Clinical Message In the 80s, dengue viruses type 1 and 4 (DENV‐1 and 4) were isolated in North region of Brazil. However, it was only after the DENV‐1 introduction in the state of Rio de Janeiro (RJ) in mid‐1980s, that dengue became a nationwide ...

In vitro and in silico modelling of ROS1‐positive non‐small cell lung cancer reveals fusion‐dependent tyrosine kinase inhibitor responses

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Drug resistance limits treatment success in a subset of lung cancers driven by ROS1 gene alterations. Using patient‐derived cells and computer simulations, we studied three key mutations and how they affect five targeted drugs. The mutations reduced drug effectiveness in different ways by altering protein structure and behavior.

Genotype-Specific Vector Competence of Aedes albopictus for Japanese Encephalitis Virus Genotypes I, III, and V

open access: yesViruses
Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV), a mosquito-borne flavivirus, poses a significant public health threat in Asia. Although Culex species are primary vectors, the role of Aedes albopictus in JEV transmission has gained attention under changing ecological conditions. This study evaluated the vector competence of Ae. albopictus for three JEV genotypes: I (
