Caveolin‐1 Stabilizes SERCA2 to Counteract Acute Kidney Injury via Suppression of Ca2+‐Dependent Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress in Distal Tubules

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In AKI, initial kidney injury upregulates the expression of Cav‐1, which subsequently binds to and stabilizes SERCA2 via its scaffolding domain and through deubiquitination, thereby regulating Ca2+ homeostasis and ER stress. Conversely, Cav‐1 deficiency accelerates SERCA2 degradation, triggering Ca2+ overload and ER stress, and ultimately exacerbating ...

Metabolism‐Based Biomarkers for Rapid Phenotypic Antibiotic Susceptibility Testing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Metabolic differences emerging after antibiotic exposure provide rapid phenotypic signals of susceptibility and resistance. This review summarizes metabolic biomarkers for rapid phenotypic AST, associated with nutrient uptake, respiratory activity, metabolic reprogramming, and enzymatic function. ABSTRACT The accelerating global crisis of antimicrobial

Comparative evaluation of topical Sodium fusidate cream in common pyodermas with topical gentamicin ointment and systemic antibiotics

open access: yesIndian Journal of Dermatology, 1996
: One hundred cases of common pyodermas consisting of four groups, namely impetigo, furunculosis and chronic folliculitis were taken. Each group containing twenty five cases were divided again into three subgroups. From each group, 15 were treated with 2

Cancer therapy‐induced ototoxicity: Current challenges and emerging management strategies

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
This review comprehensively examines the key risk factors for cancer therapy‐induced ototoxicity, including cumulative drug dose, genetic susceptibility, and combined treatment regimens. It highlights current challenges in ototoxicity monitoring, such as insufficient timeliness and limited clinical adoption, and advocates for standardized auditory ...

Grundlegende Untersuchungen zur Integration eines Wirkstofffreisetzungssystems in ein textiles Knochenimplantat am Beispiel des Antibiotikums Gentamicin [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015

Lysyl Oxidase Reduces Neutrophil Extravasation in Response to P. aeruginosa in an Infection‐on‐a‐Chip Model

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
Lysyl oxidase crosslinking of type I collagen decreases neutrophil extravasation through an endothelium during the initial response to P. aeruginosa. This decrease in extravasation is likely due to the increase in VE‐cadherin expression between endothelial cells seeded on LOX‐crosslinked collagen hydrogels.

Horizontal Gene Transfer to Bacteria of an Arabidopsis Thaliana ABC Transporter That Confers Kanamycin Resistance in Transgenic Plants [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The use of antibiotic resistance markers is an important tool in the production and selection of transgenic plants. There have been increased concerns about the potential horizontal gene transfer (HGT) from transgenic plants to bacteria of medical and ...

Injectable Bone Cements: A Generational Framework for Bioactivity, Porosity, and Mechanobiological Design at the Nanoscale

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
Key demographic, biological, and material considerations that drive the need for advanced injectable bone cement technologies. Injectable bone cements (IBCs) are widely used in orthopaedic and craniofacial applications due to their minimally invasive delivery and ability to provide early mechanical stabilisation.
