Sharp Bounds by the Generalized Logarithmic Mean for the Geometric Weighted Mean of the Geometric and Harmonic Means

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, 2012
We present sharp upper and lower generalized logarithmic mean bounds for the geometric weighted mean of the geometric and harmonic means.

Learning to Rank Using Localized Geometric Mean Metrics

open access: yes, 2017
Many learning-to-rank (LtR) algorithms focus on query-independent model, in which query and document do not lie in the same feature space, and the rankers rely on the feature ensemble about query-document pair instead of the similarity between query ...

Weighted inequalities for geometric means [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 1994
A characterization of weights u , v u,v is given for which the geometric mean operator T f ( x ) = exp ⁡ ( 1 x ∫ 0 x ln f

The geometric mean algorithm [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Bisection (of a real interval) is a well known algorithm to compute eigenvalues of symmetric matrices. Given an initial interval [a,b], convergence to an eigenvalue which has size much smaller than a or b may be made considerably faster if one replaces ...

Optimal two-parameter geometric and arithmetic mean bounds for the Sándor–Yang mean

open access: yesJournal of Inequalities and Applications, 2019
In the article, we provide the sharp bounds for the Sándor–Yang mean in terms of certain families of the two-parameter geometric and arithmetic mean and the one-parameter geometric and harmonic means.

Vector lattices and $f$-algebras: the classical inequalities

open access: yes, 2017
We prove an identity for sesquilinear maps from the Cartesian square of a vector space to a geometric mean closed Archimedean (real or complex) vector lattice, from which the Cauchy-Schwarz inequality follows.

Revealing the structure of land plant photosystem II: the journey from negative‐stain EM to cryo‐EM

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Advances in cryo‐EM have revealed the detailed structure of Photosystem II, a key protein complex driving photosynthesis. This review traces the journey from early low‐resolution images to high‐resolution models, highlighting how these discoveries deepen our understanding of light harvesting and energy conversion in plants.

Revisiting Some Relationships Between the Weighted Spectral Mean and the Wasserstein Mean

open access: yesMathematics
In this paper, we introduce the 2-geometric mean and explore its connections with the spectral geometric mean and the Wasserstein mean for positive definite matrices.

Structural insights into lacto‐N‐biose I recognition by a family 32 carbohydrate‐binding module from Bifidobacterium bifidum

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bifidobacterium bifidum establishes symbiosis with infants by metabolizing lacto‐N‐biose I (LNB) from human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs). The extracellular multidomain enzyme LnbB drives this process, releasing LNB via its catalytic glycoside hydrolase family 20 (GH20) lacto‐N‐biosidase domain.
