Friend, Not Foe: Lowered Tissue Reactivity to Long‐Term Polyimide Implants
The choice of optimal neural probe designs remains a major challenge in the field of neurotechnology. This study investigated the biocompatibility of several probe variations, including material, thickness, width, and implantation strategy. It highlights the clear advantage of soft polyimide probes over stiff silicon probes for better device ...

Iba1+ mitotic microglia do not express GFAP.
Images show Z-stack projection images taken in the E80 macaque occipital cortex immunostained for PH3 (blue), Iba1 (green) and GFAP (red). Inset panels below show immunoreactivity for each individual antibody.

Magnetomechanical neuromodulation using magnetic nanodiscs enables remote activation of neurons. In a hemiparkinsonian mouse model, alternating magnetic fields actuate the nanodiscs to generate torque that opens mechanosensitive ion channels within the subthalamic nucleus, thereby modulating basal ganglia motor circuitry.

Expression of GFAP by NT2-astrocyte cultures.
GFAP and vimentin expression in NT2 astrocytes. Images show the varied morphology of the (a) GFAP and (b) vimentin stained NT2 astrocytes. Most are strongly positive for GFAP staining, with some having highly pronounced intermediate-filament structures

Structure and Transcriptional Regulation of the GFAP Gene
Transcriptional regulation of the GFAP gene is intimately connected with astrocyte function: its initial activation marks the differentiation of astrocytes, and its up‐regulation accompanies the reactive response to CNS injury. Studies of GFAP transcription should thus provide insights into multiple regulatory pathways operating in these cells.

After spinal cord injury, adult microglia remain persistently activated with chronic PRMT6 (protein arginine methyltransferase 6) upregulation. Prmt6 deficiency or inhibition reestablishes microglial homeostasis and promotes a scar‐limited repairment, enhancing axonal regrowth.

p62 in Gfap+/R236H mice colocalizes with Gfap aggregates and is reduced with loss of Nrf2.
(A) p62 immunohistochemistry in hippocampus from Gfap+/R236H/Nrf2+/+ mice shows astrocytic cells that are not apparent in Gfap+/+ mice. Gfap+/R236H/Nrf2−/− mice show similarly stained cells (3 mos of age).

Müller cell markers in aqueous humor of patients with type-2 macular telangiectasia
Purpose: To investigate the pathogenesis of type-2 macular telangiectasia (MacTel) by comparing the levels of glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP), aquaporin-4 (AQP4), and K+ inwardly rectifying channel 4.1 (Kir4.1) in the aqueous humor of diagnosed ...
