AbstractGhrelin is a pleiotropic feeding hormone which also has a pivotal role in the central nervous system. Upon the activation of its receptor, growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHSR), the Gαq/11‐mediated and the β‐arrestin‐mediated signaling pathways are activated. As the β‐arrestin pathway is a potential drug target, there is a strong need for

Associations of polymorphism within the GHSR gene with growth traits in Nanyang cattle
Molecular Biology Reports, 2009GH secretagogue receptor (ghrelin receptor, GHSR) is known to be involved in the control of GH release by mediating the strong stimulatory effect of the endogenous ligand, ghrelin, on GH secretion. Associations between the GHSR gene polymorphism and the growth traits were revealed in Nanyang cattle.

GHSR signalling in perinatal phases is involved in liver metabolism at puberty
Journal of EndocrinologyGhrelin has effects that range from the maturation of the central nervous system to the regulation of energy balance. The production of ghrelin increases significantly during the first weeks of life. Studies have addressed the metabolic effects of liver-expressed antimicrobial peptide 2 (LEAP2) in inhibiting the effects evoked by ghrelin, mainly in ...

Ghrelin is a gastrointestinal hormone on feeding and metabolism regulation, and acts through its receptor-growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHSR), which is widely distributed throughout the central nervous system. Recent studies have suggested that ghrelin plays an important role in the regulation of depression, but the underlying mechanisms remain
