Sucrose Osmotic Treatment Effect on Moisture, Antioxidant, Texture, and Sensory Properties of Ginger Extract-Imersed Coconut Chips

open access: yesJournal of Applied Agricultural Science and Technology
In this study, ginger extract was used to impart a distinctive, popular flavor and functional properties (antioxidants) to coconut chips. Sucrose was added to the extract as an osmotic agent to facilitate the migration of antioxidant and flavor compounds

The maternal mental state input inventory: A scoping review of use, adaptation and developmental evidence

open access: yesBritish Journal of Developmental Psychology, EarlyView.
Abstract Adults' mental state language (MSL), referring to and labelling cognitions, emotions and desires, is regarded as a key input to children's social‐cognitive development. The Maternal Mental State Input Inventory (MMSII) offers a vignette‐based approach to investigating adults' preferences for using MSL and elaborated language.

The Impact of Rosemary and Ginger Extracts on Aging and Healthspan in Drosophila

open access: yesaging and disease
Aging leads to a decline in physiological functions and increased risk of mortality, yet therapeutic avenues are limited. Dietary phytochemicals provide an attractive approach to counteract age-related health decline. Here, we have examined the impact of feeding extracts of rosemary and ginger, prepared via three different extraction methods, on ...

t‐Regina: Data‐driven Authoring of Free‐form Registration for Cartoon Character Sprites

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract This paper proposes t‐Regina, a novel iterative scheme that automates the manipulation of grid handles in free‐form deformation (FFD) for deformable registrations of cartoon character sprites. First, we build a data‐driven FFD (dFFD) that enables users to handle locations of FFD handles from lower‐dimensional parameters.

Structural insights into xyloglucan recognition by an ABC transporter from a Gram‐positive, thermophilic bacterium

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Athe_2052 is an ABC transporter substrate‐binding protein that recognizes xyloglucan heptasaccharide (XXXG), a soluble breakdown product of plant xyloglucan. The crystal structure of Athe_2052, together with binding assays and computational modeling, shows how XXXG is recognized by this sugar transporter.

Comparing Digital and Fluorescent Imaging for Detecting White Spot Lesions in Orthodontic Patients

open access: yesInternational Journal of Paediatric Dentistry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background To perform orthodontic movements, brackets and ligatures must be placed on the teeth that facilitate plaque accumulation, which can lead to the formation of demineralization lesions. Aim The purpose of this comparative study was to detect and measure WSLs using digital and fluorescence‐based methods in patients with malocclusions ...
