A short review on sources and health benefits of GLA, The GOOD omega-6
GLA rich oils are used mainly for their antiinflammatory effects. As inflammation plays a role in a large number of diseases, GLA can also affect a large number of diseases/conditions.

Chromosomal instability in untreated primary prostate cancer as an indicator of metastatic potential. [PDF]
BackgroundMetastatic prostate cancer (PC) is highly lethal. The ability to identify primary tumors capable of dissemination is an unmet need in the quest to understand lethal biology and improve patient outcomes.

In the work reported herein, the catalytic effects of acid sites on electrocatalytic glycerol oxidation reaction are investigated by using a novel catalytic material system that integrates Pt metal sites with acidic Al sites. Abstract The catalytic role and function of acid sites in solid acid catalysts, such as zeolites, are well understood in the ...

Invariants of pseudogroup actions: Homological methods and Finiteness theorem [PDF]
We study the equivalence problem of submanifolds with respect to a transitive pseudogroup action. The corresponding differential invariants are determined via formal theory and lead to the notions of k-variants and k-covariants, even in the case of non ...

A Functional 2D Carbon Allotrope Combining Nanoporous Graphene and Biphenylene Segments
The synthesis of a novel nanoporous graphene (NPG) is reported with biphenylene segments via thermal fusion of 12‐armchair porous graphene nanoribbons grown on gold surfaces. Characterization using STM, AFM, and DFT reveals low‐defect semiconducting behaviour and tunable band gaps.

Gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) is essential for the well-being of humans and other animals. People may lack GLA because of aging or diseases, and thus, dietary supplements or medical reagents containing GLA-enriched lipids are in demand.

Spin‐Split Edge States in Metal‐Supported Graphene Nanoislands Obtained by CVD
Combining STM measurements and ab‐initio calculations, we show that zig‐zag edges in graphene nanoislands grown on Ni(111) by CVD retrieve their spin‐polarized edge states after intercalation of a few monolayers of Au. ABSTRACT Spin‐split states localized on zigzag edges have been predicted for different free‐standing graphene nanostructures.
