Enhanced skin permeation of glabridin using eutectic mixture-based nanoemulsion
Drug Delivery and Translational Research, 2017This study aimed to investigate the performance of the eutectic mixture of menthol and camphor (1:1, w/w) in nanoemulsion formulation for enhanced transdermal penetration of water-insoluble glabridin. Glabridin solubility in different media was determined by a shaking bottle method.

Extraction of glabridin using imidazolium-based ionic liquids
Separation and Purification Technology, 2012Abstract The present study aims to extract bioactive glabridin from licorice extract using imidazolium-based ionic liquids (ILs). A series of 1-alkyl-3-methylimidazolium ionic liquids with different anions and alkyl chain lengths of cations were selected to extract glabridin.

Structural Aspects of The Inhibitory Effect of Glabridin on LDL Oxidation
Free Radical Biology and Medicine, 1998The inhibitory effects of glabridin, an isoflavan isolated from licorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra) root, and its derivatives on the oxidation of LDL induced by copper ions or mediated by macrophages were studied, in order to evaluate the contribution of the different parts of the isoflavan molecule to its antioxidant activity.

Glabridin Alleviates Metabolic Disorders in Diet‐Induced Diabetic Mice
Phytotherapy ResearchABSTRACTGlabridin (GLD) is a flavonoid derived from licorice. This study aims to evaluate GLD's therapeutic potential in ameliorating type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and elucidate its underlying mechanisms of action. A T2DM model was established using male C57BL/6J mice fed a high‐fat, high‐glucose diet.

AbstractAs the main active compound of Glycyrrhiza glabra L., glabridin (GLD) has been shown to have multiple bioactivities, whereas the clinical application of GLD is restricted by its low water solubility. In this study, GLD was encapsulated into a sulfobutylether‐β‐cyclodextrin (SBE‐β‐CD)‐based inclusion complex (SBE‐β‐CD/GLD) by the freeze‐drying ...

Discover the Maze-like Pathway for Glabridin Biosynthesis
AbstractTailoring enzymes diversify plant metabolite scaffolds through complex, context-dependent modifications, generating maze-like biosynthetic networks that complicate metabolic pathway reconstruction. Here, we systematically deconstructed and reconstructed the biosynthetic network of glabridin, a valuable skin-whitening isoflavone fromGlycyrrhiza.Zhen Zhang +12 more

Glabridin protects osteoblastic MC3T3-E1 cells against antimycin A induced cytotoxicity
Chemico-Biological Interactions, 2011Mitochondrial dysfunction, particularly respiratory chain disruption, is often responsible for aging-related bone diseases. In this study, the protective effects of glabridin, an isoflavan isolated from licorice root, against pharmacological inhibition of the respiratory chain were studied using osteoblastic MC3T3-E1 cells treated with antimycin A ...
