Natural Variations of ZmRLR1 Mediate the Root Lodging Resistance of Maize by Regulating Root Ascorbate and Auxin Homeostasis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Root lodging severely limits crop yield and quality. We reveal that ZmRLR1, a plasma membrane b‐type cytochrome, regulates lodging resistance in maize through dual roles: modulating intracellular redox balance and functioning as a novel component of clathrin‐mediated endocytosis to influence auxin homeostasis. Moreover, natural variations in the ZmRLR1

3D‐Printed Architected Anisotropic Channels for Ultrafast Solar‐Driven Interfacial Evaporation via Localized Thermal Management and Water Layer Structuring

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A 3D‐printed anisotropic channel evaporator integrates directional geometry with aligned titanium oxide, boron nitride, and chitosan networks to coordinate photon absorption, heat localization, and water transport. Phonon‐guided thermal pathways and interfacial water structuring enable ultrahigh evaporation rates and long‐term salt‐resistant solar ...

Runoff modelling in glacierized Central Asian catchments for present-day and future climate [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
A conceptual precipitation–runoff model was applied in five glacierized catchments in Central Asia. The model, which was first developed and applied in the Alps, works on a daily time step and yields good results in the more continental climate of the ...

A consistent glacier inventory for Karakoram and Pamir derived from Landsat data: distribution of debris cover and mapping challenges

open access: yesEarth System Science Data, 2018
. Knowledge about the coverage and characteristics of glaciers in High Mountain Asia (HMA) is still incomplete and heterogeneous. However, several applications, such as modelling of past or future glacier development, run-off, or glacier volume, rely on ...

Neural Network‐Based Permittivity Engineering of Magnetic Absorbers for Customizable Microwave Absorption

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A neural network‐enabled permittivity engineering paradigm is introduced, transcending traditional trial‐and‐error design. By decoupling electromagnetic parameters and screening a high‐throughput feature space, an ultrathin (1.0 mm) magnetic absorber is inversely designed, experimentally achieving a superior and customizable 5.1 GHz bandwidth and ...

Simulating seasonal evolution of subglacial hydrology at a surging glacier in the Karakoram

open access: yesJournal of Glaciology
Glacier motion, retreat and glacier hazards such as surges and glacial lake outburst floods (GLOFs) are likely underpinned by subglacial hydrology. Recent advances in subglacial hydrological modeling allow us to shed light on subglacial processes that ...

Discovery of the Fastest Ice Flow along the Central Flow Line of Austre Lovénbreen, a Poly-thermal Valley Glacier in Svalbard

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2019
Ice flow velocity is a sensitive indicator of glacier variations both controlling and representing the delivery of ice and affecting the future stability of ice masses in a warming climate.

A “Hot Spring” Mimetic Aerogel Loaded with Multiple Amino Acids Modulates the Chronic Inflammatory Microenvironment Through Metabolic Reprogramming

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The SrCuSi4O₁₀ bioceramic particles mimic the effects of hot spring therapy by increasing the local wound temperature, which enhances the absorption of amino acids and stimulates cell metabolism. The amino acid uptake supports cellular glutathione redox reactions, helping to mitigate oxidative stress.

Improved representation of laminar and turbulent sheet flow in subglacial drainage models

open access: yesJournal of Glaciology
Subglacial hydrology models struggle to reproduce seasonal drainage patterns that are consistent with observed subglacial water pressures and surface velocities. We modify the standard sheet-flow parameterization within a coupled sheet–channel subglacial
