Dynamic Loading Regulates Meniscus‐Like Matrix Production in Human Mesenchymal Stromal Cell‐Seeded PET Scaffolds

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Dynamic compression enhances mesenchymal stromal cell proliferation in nonwoven PET scaffolds under chondrogenic differentiation conditions and triggers mechanosensitive transcriptional programs associated with extracellular matrix remodeling. These findings highlight the potential of mechanically stimulated PET scaffolds as a promising platform for ...

Daylight Glare with the Sun in the Field of View: An Evaluation of the Daylight Glare Metric Through a Laboratory Study Under an Artificial Sky Dome and an Extensive Simulation Study

open access: yesBuildings
The Daylight Glare Probability (DGP) includes the luminance of a glare source quadratically, but the solid angle only linearly. While this is in line with formulae of other glare metrics, it must be questioned for small glare sources, if the glare ...

A Novel Drug‐Loaded Porous Parylene Electrode for Targeted Anti‐Inflammatory Therapy and Hearing Preservation in Cochlear Implantation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A porous parylene‐coated electrode loaded with dexamethasone was developed to reduce inflammation after cochlear implantation. In guinea pigs, the device provided sustained drug release, maintained biocompatibility, improved auditory brainstem response thresholds, and reduced inflammatory cell infiltration and TNF‐α expression.

POM‐Based Water Splitting Catalyst Under Acid Conditions Driven by Its Assembly on Carbon Nanotubes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A newly‐engineered POM‐based electrocatalyst incorporating non‐innocent counter cations exhibits fast kinetics for either the OER or HER under strongly acidic conditions (1 m H2SO4), depending on whether it is assembled on carbon nanotubes (1@CNT) or physically mixed with them (1/CNT). In water‐splitting tests using a two‐electrode setup, these systems

Adaptive Polarizing Suppression of Sea Surface Glare Based on the Geographic Polarization Suppression Model

open access: yesApplied Sciences
As a strong interference source for the all-time optical imaging surveillance of maritime targets, sea surface glare is difficult to mitigate accurately because of its time-varying characteristics due to lighting conditions and seawater fluctuations.

High‐Performance Bio‐Glue From the Berries of a Parasitic Plant

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We report a fully bio‐based adhesive derived primarily from a (poly)saccharide extract obtained from the berries of the hemi‐parasitic plant mistletoe (Viscum album), supplemented with tannic and malic acid without any further chemical functionalization.

Determination of the Simplified Daylight Glare Probability (DGPs) Criteria for Daylit Office Spaces in Thailand

open access: yesBuildings, 2020
The increasing trend of employing glazed façades to utilize daylight in the buildings has made it necessary to develop measures to avoid excessive sunlight penetration in such daylit spaces. In Thailand, only a few studies have focused on daylight glare,

A study on disability glare vision in young adult subjects

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
The full assessment of the visual system must include the evaluation of the optical quality of the eye and neural visual functions. The objective evaluation of the retinal image quality is often carried out by computing the point spread function (PSF) of

An Imaging‐Guided, Patient‐Specific Guiding Aid (RWNGuide) for Safe and Reproducible Inner Ear Drug Delivery

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A patient‐specific, imaging‐guided aid enables precise and reproducible drug delivery to the inner ear. By guiding therapeutic agents directly to the round window niche, this approach reduces variability in drug localization, improves delivery safety, and addresses a critical bottleneck in inner ear therapy, offering a scalable strategy for precision ...
