Radial dependence of thermal, structural and micro deformation characteristics in Cu-Zr-Al bulk metallic glass subjected to high pressure torsion

open access: yesMaterials & Design
Disk of a Cu38Zr54Al8 bulk metallic glass was subjected to severe plastic deformation by high pressure torsion up to 25 revolutions. X-ray diffraction was utilized to investigate the microstructure of the deformed sample, while the thermal behavior of ...

Patient therapy outcome modeling in cancer organoids is improved by cancer‐associated fibroblasts and organoid assembly convolution

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Patient‐derived organoids (PDOs) from pancreatic, colorectal, and gastric cancers were used to evaluate standard and experimental therapies. Incorporating cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) into organoid cultures improved patient therapy outcome prediction.

Micro-lateral extrusion of Zr55Cu30Al10Ni5 bulk metallic glass under low-frequency vibration loading

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2015
The effect of vibration on the micro-forming ability of Zr55Cu30Al10Ni5 bulk metallic glass in its supercooled liquid region was studied. The experiment of micro-extrusion was carried out under different amplitude (38 ∼ 760 N) and different frequency (0 ...

Glass-forming ability and magnetic properties of CoFeMoYB bulk glassy alloys with large supercooled liquid region

open access: yes, 2010
Co-based bulk glassy alloys with diameters up to 4 mm were formed in Co41+ xFe28Mo4Y5-xB22 (x = 0-1.5) system. The effect of Y content on the glass-forming ability and soft-magnetic properties of the Co-based bulk glassy alloys was investigated.

Hyperactive ice‐binding proteins stabilize cell membranes and improve resistance to dehydration stress in Caenorhabditis elegans

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
TisIBP8, a fungal‐derived hyperactive ice‐binding protein, helps Caenorhabditis elegans survive dehydration. It localizes near cell membranes, reduces cell damage, and helps maintain membrane structure during drying. These results suggest that ice‐binding proteins can protect cells from dehydration stress as well as freezing stress.
