Neurofilament and glial fibrillary acidic protein in multiple sclerosis

Neurology, 2004
To evaluate levels of neurofilament light (NFL) and glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) in CSF from patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) in relation to clinical progress of the disease.CSF levels of NFL and GFAP were determined by sensitive ELISAs in 99 patients with different subtypes of MS, classified in terms of "ongoing relapse" or "clinically ...

Autoimmune encephalitis in glial fibrillary acidic protein astrocytopathy

BMJ Case Reports
Autoimmune encephalitis due to glial fibrillar acidic protein (GFAP) astrocytopathy is a rare cause of subacute neuropsychiatric changes. In this case, a young patient presented with a viral prodrome and meningismus, followed by progressive encephalopathy and movement disorders over the span of 2 weeks.

Immunohistochemical demonstration of glial fibrillary acidic protein in scrapie

Journal of Comparative Pathology, 1983
Although little is known about its metabolism, glial fibrillary acidic (GFA) protein has become widely used as a cell-specific, species-non-specific antigenic marker for normal or pathologically altered astroglia. So far there have been few investigations on GFA protein in relation to scrapie and analogous spongiform encephalopathies although there has
