CD8+ T‐cell predominance in autoimmune glial fibrillary acidic protein astrocytopathy

European Journal of Neurology, 2021
We aimed to report the pathological features of T lymphocytes in autoimmune glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) astrocytopathy (GFAP‐A).

Glial fibrillary acidic protein in medulloblastoma

Acta Neuropathologica, 1981
Twenty-four cases of classical medulloblastoma and one case of desmoplastic medulloblastoma were examined for glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) using the immunoperoxidase method to assess astrocytic differentiation. In 16 cases of classical medulloblastoma GFAP-positive cells were present in variable numbers.

Serum glial fibrillary acidic protein correlates with multiple sclerosis disease severity

Multiple Sclerosis, 2020
Background: Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) levels of two soluble biomarkers, glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) and neurofilament light chain (NfL), have been shown to associate with multiple sclerosis (MS) disease progression. Now, both biomarkers can be

Glial fibrillary acidic protein in medulloblastomas

Acta Neuropathologica, 1985
Two cases of medulloblastoma are described which show positive immunostaining for glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) in many cells. The surgical and autopsy specimens were examined by the indirect immunoperoxidase method. Positive staining for GFAP was demonstrated in the small, round to polygonal cells in both surgical specimens and in the small ...

Neurochemical regulation of the expression and function of glial fibrillary acidic protein in astrocytes

Glia, 2020
Glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP), a type III intermediate filament, is a marker of mature astrocytes. The expression of GFAP gene is regulated by many transcription factors (TFs), mainly Janus kinase‐2/signal transducer and activator of ...

Glial fibrillary acid protein

Neurology, 2018
Intermediate filaments are a fundamental component of the cytoskeleton in neurons and astrocytes. The main intermediate filament in astrocytes is glial fibrillary acid protein (GFAP). Like other intermediate filaments, GFAP interacts with other components of the cytoskeleton, adhesion molecules, intracellular chaperones, and other proteins.

Glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP)

Journal of the Neurological Sciences, 1979
Abstract The extraction and purification of glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) from human fibrillary cerebellar astrocytoma is described. Using an immunoperoxidase method, antisera raised to the protein showed specific staining of astrocytes in normal spinal cord and in tumours of astrocytic origin.
