Case Reports: Three cases of autoimmune glial fibrillary acidic protein astrocytosis in disguise
Autoimmune glial fibrillary acidic protein astrocytosis (GFAP-A), a novel inflammatory autoimmune disorder of the central nervous system, manifests with insidious onset and demonstrates protean clinical manifestations, which frequently leads to ...

Differential detection of impact site versus rotational site injury by magnetic resonance imaging and microglial morphology in an unrestrained mild closed head injury model. [PDF]
Seventy-five percent of all traumatic brain injuries are mild and do not cause readily visible abnormalities on routine medical imaging making it difficult to predict which individuals will develop unwanted clinical sequelae. Microglia are brain-resident

Abstract Background Transsynaptic α‐synuclein propagation plays a crucial role in the progression of Lewy body disease. We previously demonstrated that an α‐amino‐3‐hydroxy‐5‐methyl‐4‐isoxazolepropionic acid receptor antagonist, perampanel, blocks neuronal uptake of α‐synuclein preformed fibrils (PFFs) in an activity‐dependent manner.

Unilateral mastication, a common oral habit, induces cognitive decline in rats by disrupting hippocampal cholesterol metabolism. It triggers astrocyte hyperplasia, enhances cholesterol synthesis, impairs transport/degradation, and reduces 24‐hydroxycholesterol (24‐OHC), ultimately damaging synaptic function.

14‐3‐3 protein homeostasis is disrupted in Lewy body pathology, showing a diminution of six isotypes and overexpression of stratifin. The latter was associated with stratifin colocalization with tau pathology and reactive astrocytes. Platelets, as a peripheral biomarker source, mirrored inversely cortical 14‐3‐3 gene expression patterns in dementia ...

Maturation of astrocytes in the rat hippocampus : potential behavioral implications [PDF]
Diversos trabajos han mostrado que la astroglía juega un papel relevante en la fisiología del sistema nervioso central. Sin embargo, aún existen pocos estudios que se hayan centrado en el análisis de la población astroglial durante el desarrollo ...
