Retail Policies in the Global Gasoline Market

open access: yesSymphonya, 2010
The global motor fuel market is dominated by the oil companies (NOC – National Oil Companies and IOC – International Oil Companies) which control the raw material and manage stable alliances designed to monitor the various stages of the fuel supply chain.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

International Competitive Disposition of National Higher Education Systems [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Economic Policy, 2017
In this paper, the stratification of national systems of higher education in a dynamic competitive environment, which is one of the ways of deepening the asymmetries of global economic development, is examined. Governments of key innovation countries,

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

EDLP and Private Labels: Unes Strategic Levers to Look Forward

open access: yesSymphonya, 2015
U2 Supermarket and private label products are the main strategic levers that qualify the development of UNES. U2 is a "countercurrent Supermarket” that combine the Every Day Low Price (EDLP) business model with the offer of a wide range of private label ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Innovation and Imitation: Corporate Strategies for Global Competition

open access: yesSymphonya, 2012
In open markets where competition is strong, innovation loses its role of ‘ideological hierarchy’ over imitation; both have the common goal of maximising company profitability, with the constraint of optimising performance results in the very short term.
