Optimality Conditions for Mathematical Programs with Vanishing Constraints Using Directional Convexificators

open access: yesAxioms
This article deals with mathematical programs with vanishing constraints (MPVCs) involving lower semi-continuous functions. We introduce generalized Abadie constraint qualification (ACQ) and MPVC-ACQ in terms of directional convexificators and derive ...

On the Optimal Control of Intervention Strategies for Hepatitis B Model

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2023
Hepatitis B is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality, affecting hundreds of millions of people worldwide. Thus, this paper focuses on three control measures as the best way to intervene against the hepatitis B viral infection.

Therapeutic Apheresis in Nigeria: A Multi‐Center Summary of Abstracts From the Inaugural Nigerian Society for Apheresis Scientific Meeting

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Therapeutic apheresis (TA) is an established treatment modality for hematologic, neurologic, and immunologic disorders, yet access remains severely limited in sub‐Saharan Africa. Donor apheresis, including platelet apheresis collection from healthy donors, represents an important complementary modality supporting blood product ...

On Locally and Globally Optimal Solutions in Scalar Variational Control Problems

open access: yesMathematics, 2019
In this paper, optimality conditions are studied for a new class of PDE and PDI-constrained scalar variational control problems governed by path-independent curvilinear integral functionals.

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Global optimality conditions for mixed integer nonlinear programming problems

open access: yes四川大学学报. 自然科学版, 2017
In recent years, the application of mixed integer nonlinear programming problem has been extremely active and very extensive. In this paper, some necessary conditions for a given global minimizer applied to mixed integer nonlinear programming problem ...

Fractional Calculus Approach for Variational Problems: Characterization of Sufficient Optimality Conditions and Duality

open access: yesPartial Differential Equations in Applied Mathematics
In this paper, we present a Wolfe-type dual model containing the Caputo-Fabrizio fractional derivative, weak and strong duality results, number of Kuhn-Tucker type sufficient optimality conditions and duality results for variational problems (VPs) with ...

A global scale mechanistic model of photosynthetic capacity (LUNA V1.0) [PDF]

open access: yesGeoscientific Model Development, 2016
Although plant photosynthetic capacity as determined by the maximum carboxylation rate (i.e., Vc, max25) and the maximum electron transport rate (i.e., Jmax25) at a reference temperature (generally 25 °C) is known to vary considerably in space and time ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.
