A global optimization method based on the reduced simplicial statistical model
A simplicial statistical model of multimodal functions is used to construct a global optimization algorithm. The search for the global minimum in the multidimensional space is reduced to the search over the edges of simplices covering the feasible region

A stochastic technique for global optimization
AbstractA stochastic technique for multiextremal optimization is discussed; the technique derives from the adoption of sequential stopping rules for the well-known Multistart algorithm. The stopping rules are developed in a Bayesian nonparametric framework.

MiR‐99a‐5p/miR‐100‐5p (functionally identical) and miR‐125b‐5p microRNAs are downregulated in malignant germ cell tumors (GCTs). Combination replenishment of these microRNAs using mimics resulted in growth inhibition in representative cell lines, with consequent downregulation of target genes involved in cell cycle (confirmed by flow cytometry) and ...

A New Challenging Curve Fitting Benchmark Test Set for Global Optimization [PDF]
Benchmark sets are extremely important for evaluating and developing global optimization algorithms and related solvers. A new test set named PCC benchmark is proposed especially for optimization problems of nonlinear curve fitting for the first time, with the aspiration of helping developers to investigate and compare the performance of different ...

Global Optimization Algorithms in Multidisciplinary Design Optimization [PDF]
While Multidisciplinay Design Optimization (MDO) literature focuses mainly on the development of different formulations, through the manipulation of design variables, less attention is generally devoted to the combination of specific MDO formulations with existing nonlinear optimization algorithms.

Consensus molecular subtypes (CMS1‐4) have been identified to study colorectal cancer heterogeneity and serve as potential biomarkers. In this study, we developed and evaluated NanoCMSer, a NanoString‐based classifier using 55 genes, optimized for FF and FFPE to facilitate the clinical evaluation of CMS subtyping.

Continuous extremal optimization for Lennard-Jones Clusters
In this paper, we explore a general-purpose heuristic algorithm for finding high-quality solutions to continuous optimization problems. The method, called continuous extremal optimization(CEO), can be considered as an extension of extremal optimization ...

Large multidimensional digital images of cancer tissue are becoming prolific, but many challenges exist to automatically extract relevant information from them using computational tools. We describe publicly available resources that have been developed jointly by expert and non‐expert computational biologists working together during a virtual hackathon
