Mouse Globin Gene Nomenclature

Journal of Heredity, 1988
A new system of nomenclature for haplotypes, genes, alleles, and mutant alleles in the mouse alpha- and beta-globin gene complexes was formulated at a meeting of workers in the field and is presented here.

Nutritive Value of Globin-Amino Acid and Complementary Globin-Cereal Mixtures

The Journal of Nutrition, 1980
Protein efficiency ratios (PER) were determined using male weanling rats fed diets containing bovine globin alone and with wheat and corn gluten. Simultaneous equations and graphical methods were devised for selecting combinations of globin and cereal proteins to provide optimal and suboptimal profiles of limiting amino acids.

Nemoglobins: Divergent nematode globins

Parasitology Today, 1993
Globins are proteins commonly associated with oxygen transport in vertebrate blood, but the invertebrate phyla display a wide variety of globin types that reflect their disparate life styles and evolutionary history. It has been known for over 100 years that parasitic nematodes contain globins, but recent molecular investigations are only now beginning

Molecular weight determinations on the α-globin and β-globin mRNAs

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Nucleic Acids and Protein Synthesis, 1976
The globin mRNAs containing between 30 and 40 polyadenylate residues can be separated from thos mRNAs containing longer poly(A) regions by Millipore filter binding. The molecular weights of the alpha-and beta-globin mRNAs containing this size class of poly(A) have beed determined by lectrophoresis on 3.7% polyacrylamide gels in the presence of 99 ...

VERTEBRATE GLOBIN

2001
The invention relates to a neuroglobin, a nucleic acid coding for said protein and a method for the production of one such protein. The invention also relates to antibodies directed against the protein and the use of DNA and the protein in the diagnosis and/or therapy of diseases of the nervous system.
