Ancestral Lineages of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi (Glomales)

Molecular Phylogenetics and Evolution, 2000
Using new and existing 18S rRNA sequence data, we show that at least five species of glomalean fungi lie outside the previously defined families and diverged very early in the evolution of that group. These five fungi would have been missed by many previous ecological studies because their sequences are not well matched to available taxon-specific ...

Names and epithets in the Glomales and Endogonales

Mycological Research, 1993
In a recent paper, Almeida (1989) wrote about the names and epithets used in the Endogonales sensu lato , commenting on their derivations, and providing a list of names he considered should be used in preference. Almost all of these changes were erroneous, and, with four exceptions, the original names should be retained.

Lectotypification of Scutellospora auriglobosa (Glomales)

Mycological Research, 1991
The type material of Scutellospora auriglobosa Hall has been found to contain more than one species of Scutellospora . A lectotype is selected and the fungus re-described.

rDNA units are highly polymorphic in Scutellospora castanea (Glomales, Zygomycetes)

Gene, 1999
The ribosomal DNA (rDNA) units in the glomalean zygomycete fungus Scutellospora castanea were analyzed. Dot-blot assays allowed an estimation of 75 copies per genome. After constructing a genomic library in a phage lambdaEMBL3 vector, 13 rDNA clones were screened and explored.

Occurrence of some Glomales in Finland

Mycorrhiza, 1995
By using trap plants, 17 species of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) belonging to the order Glomales were identified in 266 soil samples collected in the period 1987–1989. Of the identified isolates, 87.1% belonged to the genus Glomus Tulasne & Tulasne, 8.5% to Acaulospora Gerdemann & Trappe, 4.1% to Scutellospora Walker & Sanders and 0.3% to ...
