IDIOPATHIC MEMBRANOUS GLOMERULONEPHRITIS WITH CRESCENTS

Three cases with idiopathic membranous glomerulonephritis associated with crescent formation are reported. A 39‐year‐old woman showed rapidly progressive decline in renal function. Her renal histology disclosed early membranous changes with diffuse crescent formation.

Membranous nephropathy remains the most common cause of nephrotic syndrome in adults. The common variant is idiopathic membranous nephropathy with no evidence of any known precipitating factors. Membranous nephropathy also occurs as a secondary form in association with inflammatory or neoplastic diseases.
