The dioxin receptor: A comparison with the glucocorticoid receptor
Journal of Steroid Biochemistry, 1988The physico-chemical properties of the dioxin and glucocorticoid receptors from rat liver and wild-type and mutant cell lines were investigated and compared. In rat liver, the receptors are virtually indistinguishable. Both are highly asymmetrical proteins with axial ratios of 12-15, have Stokes radii of 6 nm and sedimentation coefficients of ...

Rifampicin Is Not an Activator of Glucocorticoid Receptor
Molecular Pharmacology, 2000Rifampicin, an antibiotic widely used in tuberculosis therapy, is known to exert psychotropic side effects in some patients. Recently, rifampicin has been reported to activate the glucocorticoid receptor (GR) in human hepatocytes. Because there is evidence that increased levels of glucocorticoids may induce cognitive impairment, sometimes culminating ...

Steroids, 2003
In the treatment of inflammatory skin diseases, there are some glucocorticoid (GC) double esters combining pronounced antiinflammatory activity and minor atrophogenic side effects. The reason, however, is only poorly understood. To investigate interactions of GCs with the ligand-binding domain of the glucocorticoid receptor (GR), we measured receptor ...

Selective Glucocorticoid Receptor Ligands
Medicinal Chemistry, 2007Glucocorticoids are four-ring steroid compounds that regulate a wide range of physiological systems ranging from embryonic respiratory development, immune function and responses to acute or chronic stress. Glucocorticoids are taken up by many target cells where they bind and activate cytoplasmic glucocorticoid receptors (GRs), which then dimerize ...

MONOCLONAL ANTIBODIES TO THE GLUCOCORTICOID RECEPTOR
Endocrinology, 1982One thousand-fold purified unactivated rat liver glucocorticoid receptor was obtained by affinity chromatography followed by gel filtration. Splenic lymphocytes of immunized mice were fused with a nonproducer SP2 myeloma cell line to obtain hybridomas secreting antibodies against receptor.

Glucocorticoid receptor in chick erythrocytes
Life Sciences, 1983Glucocorticoid receptor in chick erythrocytes has been characterized. The Scatchard plot analysis of (3H)-dexamethasone binding to red cells showed a single class of binding sites. The apparent Kd of (3H)-dexamethasone binding by whole cell assay was 0.33 nM and the maximum binding capacity was 5.1 fmole/10(7) cells.

Modulator and the glucocorticoid receptor
Trends in Biochemical Sciences, 1979Abstract The presence o f a small molecule, named ‘modulator', has been observed in liver cytosol. It inhibits nuclear translocation or binding to DNA by the activated glucocorticoid receptor. Separate experiments using chemical probes of active sites of receptor suggested that the modulator could be pyridoxal 5'-phosphate. Experiments with pyridoxine-
