Gluconeogenesis: An ancient biochemical pathway with a new twist
Synthesis of sugars from simple carbon sources is critical for survival of animals under limited nutrient availability. Thus, sugar-synthesizing enzymes should be present across the entire metazoan spectrum.

Nonenzymatic Carboxylate Phosphorylation in Water
The phosphorylation of carboxylic acids to acyl phosphates is a recurring reaction in the core of microbial metabolism, a set of processes thought to date back to the origins of life. This study shows that carboxylate phosphorylation occurs in water without enzymes or adenosine triphosphate (ATP), enabled by diamidophosphate and nitrite.

This study complements the pathogenesis of depression, and the effects of APS from the perspective of “gut microbiome ‐ immunity ‐ metabolome” axis. This study also provides a novel research strategy and approaches for demonstrating the anti‐depression effects of plant polysaccharides, and lays a solid foundation for discovering new medicines from ...

Abstract Altered gut microbiota composition has been observed in individuals with hidradenitis suppurutiva (HS) and many other inflammatory diseases, including obesity, type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Here, we addressed whether adalimumab, a systemic anti‐inflammatory therapy, may impact the microbiota biochemical profile, particularly on beneficial ...

Mechanisms of transcriptional control of glucose metabolism in hepatocytes
The hepatic tissue plays a key role in the regulation and maintenance of stable blood glucose levels. The liver is the main gluconeogenesis organ of the body and is under constant hormonal control to determine the metabolic activity of hepatocytes ...

An investigation into the transcription factors and regulatory mechanisms of Aspergillus
Foodborne pathogen Aspergillus, a prevalent etiologic agent among filamentous fungi, are distinguished by a significant repertoire of transcription factors encoded within their genomes. These regulatory proteins are instrumental in orchestrating key biological processes, including cellular growth, secondary metabolite biosynthesis, mycotoxin production,

Exploring the Molecular Pathways Underlying the Anti‐Diabetic Effects of Millets
Millet consumption may modulate gluconeogenesis and glycolysis, enhance glucose transporter activity, increase leptin levels, inhibit the NF‐κB pathway, and mitigate oxidative and nitrosative stress. ABSTRACT Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disorder characterized by hyperglycemic conditions resulting from inadequate insulin production or ...
