Revisit of autoimmunity to glucose-6-phosphate isomerase in experimental and rheumatoid arthritis

Modern Rheumatology, 2020
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an inflammatory disorder characterized by synovial inflammation in multiple joints. Autoantibodies (Abs) are the hallmark of RA, and as disease-specific and diagnostic markers, rheumatoid factor and anti-citrullinated protein

Glucose-6-phosphate isomerase.

Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London. B, Biological Sciences, 1981
Glucose-6-phosphate isomerase (EC 5.3.1.9) is a dimeric enzyme of molecular mass 132000 which catalyses the interconversion of D-glucose-6-phosphate and D-fructose-6-phosphate.

Mouse glucose-6-phosphate isomerase and neuroleukin have identical 3′ sequences

Nature, 1988
Neuroleukin is a neurotrophic factor of relative molecular mass (Mr) 56,000 (56K) found in skeletal muscle, brain, heart and kidneys which supports the survival of embryonic spinal neurones, skeletal motor neurones and sensory neurones. Neuroleukin is also a lymphokine product of lectin-stimulated T cells and induces immunoglobulin secretion by ...

Genetic variants in glucose-6-phosphate isomerase gene as prognosis predictors in hepatocellular carcinoma.

Clinics and Research in Hepatology and Gastroenterology, 2016
Metabolic reprogramming is an important hallmark of cancer cells, including the alterations of activity and expression of enzymes in glucose metabolism. Previous studies have demonstrated the critical role of glucise-6-phosphate isomerase (GPI) in cancer initiation, metastasis and progression.

Substrate specificity of a glucose-6-phosphate isomerase from Pyrococcus furiosus for monosaccharides

Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology, 2009
We purified recombinant glucose-6-phosphate isomerase from Pyrococcus furiosus using heat treatment and Hi-Trap anion-exchange chromatography with a final specific activity of 0.39 U mg(-1). The activity of the glucose-6-phosphate isomerase for L: -talose isomerization was optimal at pH 7.0, 95 degrees C, and 1.5 mM Co(2+). The half-lives of the enzyme

Molecular basis for the isozymes of bovine glucose-6-phosphate isomerase

Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1988
Glucose-6-phosphate isomerase exists as multiple, catalytically active isozymes which can be resolved by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, isoelectric focusing, and ion-exchange chromatography. GPI from bovine heart was purified to homogeneity and each of the isozymes resolved.

Anomerization of glucose 6-phosphate: Catalysis by phosphoglucose isomerase

Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1979
Abstract The anomerase (1-epimerase) activity of phosphoglucose isomerase ( d -glucose 6-phosphate ketol-isomerase EC 5.3.1.9) has been studied. The pH-Vmax profile, assayed by two different methods, shows a dependence on two ionizable groups in the enzyme with pK values of 7.0 and 9.3 at 0 °C.

Ancient diversity of the glucose-6-phosphate isomerase genes

Biochemical Systematics and Ecology, 1995
Abstract The DNA and deduced amino acid sequences of the glycolytic enzyme glucose-6-phosphate isomerase (PGI) were analyzed to infer the phyolgenetic relationships among the PGI genes from eukaryotes and prokaryotes. The inferred phylogeny of the PGI genes is at variance with the conventional phylogenetic scheme of the organisms and suggests that (1)

Diagnostic value of glucose-6-phosphate isomerase in rheumatoid arthritis

Clinica Chimica Acta, 2010
Although glucose-6-phosphate isomerase (G6PI), anti-G6PI antibodies and G6PI-containing immune complexes (G6PI-CIC) have proved high expression in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), comprehensive evaluation of the G6PI-derived markers, G6PI antigen, anti-G6PI Abs, G6PI-CIC and G6PI mRNA, in the diagnosis of RA remains necessary. We measured G6PI ...
