An ultra‐processed food‐based cafeteria diet induces obesity, metabolic dysfunction, and tissue‐specific gene dysregulation in C57BL/6 mice

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
This schematic figure illustrates the experimental design and key findings of the study. Forty male C57BL/6 mice were assigned to either a standard diet control group or a cafeteria diet (CAFD) group for 16 weeks. CAFD induces obesity, insulin resistance (HOMA‐IR), hepatic steatosis, and dysregulation of a number of genes in visceral and subcutaneous ...

Glucose intolerance and dementia

open access: yesNippon Ronen Igakkai Zasshi. Japanese Journal of Geriatrics, 2011

Inflammation and Glucose Intolerance [PDF]

open access: yesDiabetes Care, 2004
OBJECTIVE—Increased leukocyte count is a marker of inflammation that has been associated with the development of type 2 diabetes in prospective studies. Although gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) and type 2 diabetes share certain pathophysiological mechanisms, few studies have examined inflammation and risk of GDM.

Blood Lactate as a Prognostic Biomarker for Survival and Weight Loss in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis: An Exploratory–Validation Study

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.

We examined whether blood lactate is associated with survival and weight loss in ALS. Methods This retrospective study included an Australian exploratory cohort and a Japanese validation cohort with clinical ...

Ameliorating Effect of Hypothalamic Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor Against Impaired Glucose Metabolism After Cerebral Ischemic Stress in Mice

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacological Sciences, 2012
Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), a member of the neurotrophin family, has potent neuroprotective effects against brain injury. We recently reported that glucose intolerance/hyperglycemia could be induced by ischemic stress (i.e., post-ischemic ...

Ixekizumab With Tirzepatide Achieved Greater Disease Control Than Ixekizumab Alone in Adults With Psoriatic Arthritis and Overweight or Obesity: Results From a Randomized Clinical Trial

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objective Overweight or obesity is prevalent in 72% to 82% of individuals with psoriatic arthritis (PsA). We assessed the efficacy and safety of ixekizumab (IXE) concomitantly administered with tirzepatide (TZP) compared with IXE alone in adult participants with active PsA and overweight with at least one weight‐related comorbidity or obesity.
