Organ‐Specific Phytochemical Composition and Bioactivity Profiling of Chaerophyllum aksekiense: A Multiassay Antioxidant, Enzyme Inhibition, and Correlation‐Based Evaluation

open access: yesChemistryOpen, Volume 15, Issue 5, May 2026.
This study reveals the organ‐specific phytochemical specialization of the endemic Chaerophyllum aksekiense for the first time. Although leaves exhibit the highest phenolic content and antioxidant capacity, flowers stand out with flavonoid accumulation, and roots demonstrate potent enzyme inhibition.

Irrigation using slightly saline water from emerging desalination technologies as a solution to short‐term drought

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, Volume 8, Issue 3, Page 831-842, May 2026.
With global weather patterns becoming more extreme and unpredictable, sourcing reliable irrigation water is vital for improving food security and conserving drinking water in drought‐prone areas. Emerging desalination technologies, which are still in the development phase, could potentially provide large quantities of slightly saline water for ...

CALR/HIF‐1α Positive Feedback Loop Drives CALR Upregulation to Promote EMT‐Mediated Bladder Cancer Progression via ROS/AKT Axis

open access: yesCancer Science, Volume 117, Issue 5, Page 1286-1302, May 2026.
This study first found that the high expression of CALR is due to a novel positive feedback loop with HIF‐1α in the tumor microenvironment: CALR stabilizes HIF‐1α protein, while HIF‐1α transcriptionally upregulates CALR expression, thereby self‐sustaining its high expression levels in BLCA.

Inhibitory Activity of Conferone on FAK Activity and Glutamine Metabolism in Human Colorectal Cancer

open access: yesJournal of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, Volume 30, Issue 9, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a major global cause of death, with metastases and chemotherapy resistance contributing to poor outcomes. To identify natural compounds with anticancer potential against CRC and elucidate their action mechanisms, the cytotoxicity of 37 natural compounds was evaluated against the HCT116, leading to the identification ...
