Catalytic Synthesis of a New Series of Alkyl Uronates and Evaluation of Their Physicochemical Properties

open access: yesMolecules, 2016
Large quantities (>3 g) of a new series of alkyl uronates were synthesized in two steps from commercial methyl hexopyranosides. Firstly, several tens of grams of free methyl α-d-glucopyranoside were selectively and quantitatively oxidized into ...

Copper binding by Pseudomonas aeruginosa

open access: yes, 1981
A copper-binding complex formed in the exopolysaccharide fraction of Image was isolated and characterized using a variety of techniques. By comparison with model Cu(II) complexes of uronic acids, it is shown that the Image forms a square-planer, cupric ...

XANES and EXAFS of copper compounds: studies of copper carboxylates with metal-metal bonds and of the complex formed by Pseudomonas aeruginosa

open access: yes, 1983
X-ray absorpion near edge structure (XANES) of copper compounds with copper in 1+, 2+ and 3+ states has been studied. Extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) has been employed to determine bond distances and coordination numbers in several model

Glucuronate, the precursor of vitamin C, is directly formed from UDP‐glucuronate in liver [PDF]

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, 2006
The conversion of UDP‐glucuronate to glucuronate, usually thought to proceed by way of glucuronate 1‐phosphate, is a site for short‐term regulation of vitamin C synthesis by metyrapone and other xenobiotics in isolated rat hepatocytes [Linster CL & Van Schaftingen E (2003) J Biol Chem278, 36328–36333].

Integration of Spatiotemporal Multi‐Omics in Peach Fruit Unravels a Metabolic Niche and the Genetic Basis of Trichome‐Mediated Stress Adaptation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study constructed the first spatiotemporal multi‐omics map of peach fruit and discovered a key candidate gene that synergistically regulates trichome development and drought tolerance through the jasmonic acid signaling pathway, providing insights into the coupling mechanism between development and stress resistance.

T2T Genome Assembly and Multi‐Omics Data Reveal Terrestrial Adaptation and Mucus Biosynthesis in Tropical Leatherleaf Slug (Laevicaulis alte)

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A gap‐free genome assembly and multi‐omics comparison of the terrestrial slug Laevichaulis alte with an aquatic relative reveal that expansion of the VEGF family orchestrates mucus production, lipid metabolism, and immune defense—highlighting key molecular innovations for conquering life on land.

Metabolomic investigation of cisplatin‐induced acute kidney injury in paediatric cancer patients

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Aim Cisplatin causes acute kidney injury (AKI) in approximately 46% of paediatric cancer patients who receive it. Serum creatinine (SCr) is a poor biomarker of cisplatin nephrotoxicity, because there is a delay between cisplatin infusion and SCr elevation.

A Synthetic Lectin for Glucuronate

open access: yesACS Central Science
The selective recognition of hydrophilic carbohydrates in water remains a longstanding challenge in supramolecular chemistry due to solvent competition and the lack of a strong driving force comparable to the hydrophobic effect. Herein, we report the design, synthesis, and characterization of a water-soluble tetralactam macrocycle, MPNT2+·2Cl-, as a ...

Natural Products as Modulators of ABC Transporters in Breast Cancer

open access: yesPhytotherapy Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Breast cancer remains a significant global health challenge, with high incidence and mortality rates despite advancements in early detection and treatment. Multidrug resistance (MDR), particularly in aggressive subtypes like triple‐negative breast cancer (TNBC), continues to hinder effective therapy.
