New Plant Protection, EarlyView.This review summarizes the uptake and metabolic transformation of neonicotinoid insecticides in plants, showing that some metabolites exhibit higher toxicity. We also critically assess promising bioremediation strategies using microbes and plant–microbe interactions to reduce residue contamination.
