Nasal administration of glutamate decarboxylase (GAD65) peptides induces Th2 responses and prevents murine insulin-dependent diabetes. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
We previously demonstrated that a spontaneous Th1 response against glutamate decarboxylase (GAD65) arises in NOD mice at four weeks in age and subsequently T cell autoimmunity spreads both intramolecularly and intermolecularly.

Fulminant type 1 diabetes with high‐titer anti‐glutamic acid decarboxylase antibodies: Likely rapid progression from stage 2 to 3

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
Abstract A 61‐year‐old man visited our hospital with a sudden onset of polydipsia and polyuria occurring 5 days prior, accompanied by a 5‐kg weight loss. A month prior, his glycated hemoglobin level was 6.2%. Precisely 8 days before the first visit, he had a fever, and hyperglycemic symptoms began shortly thereafter.

Detection of Glutamate Decarboxylase Antibodies and Simultaneous Multi-Molecular Translocation Exploration by Glass Nanopores

open access: yesBiosensors
Glutamic acid decarboxylase antibody (GADAb) has emerged as a significant biomarker for clinical diagnosis and prognosis in type 1 diabetes (T1D). In this study, we investigated the potential utilization of glass capillary solid-state nanopores as a cost-

Epigenetic analyses suggest different pathways during pregnancy for development of Type 1 diabetes in children with high versus low‐neutral human leukocyte antigen‐risk

open access: yesJournal of Internal Medicine, EarlyView.
Abstract Background and objective The development of Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is shaped by genetic predisposition and epigenetic regulation. Human leukocyte antigen (HLA) risk alleles are major genetic determinants, but the epigenetic landscape in relation to disease onset remains unclear.

Foliar Application of Nano‐Selenium Enhances Tea Quality and Selenium Biofortification by Promoting Theanine Synthesis and Nitrogen Metabolism

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Selenium (Se) biofortification improves crops' nutritional value, while nano‐selenium (nano‐Se) offers enhanced bioavailability over traditional Se fertilisers. The quality of tea (Camellia sinensis) depends critically on nitrogen (N) metabolism and amino acid balance, particularly of theanine.

Obesity and Acanthosis Nigricans as the Clinical Markers of Insulin Resistance and Type-2 Diabetes Mellitus in Young Patients; A Case Report of Two Cases

open access: yesPakistan Armed Forces Medical Journal
Two young girls, aged 11 and 12 years, presented with obesity and Acanthosis Nigricans. They were found to have severe insulin resistance and type-2 diabetes mellitus.

The spatio-temporal segregation of GAD forms defines distinct GABA signaling functions in the developing mouse olfactory system and provides novel insights into the origin and migration of GnRH neurons. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) has a dual role as an inhibitory neurotransmitter in the adult central nervous system (CNS) and as a signaling molecule exerting largely excitatory actions during development.

Valproic acid for treatment of traumatic brain injury: Study protocol for the VIBRANT prospective randomized trial

open access: yesTransfusion, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Traumatic brain injury (TBI) carries significant mortality and morbidity in civilian and military populations. Current treatment guidelines for TBI are primarily supportive, and no pharmacological agent exists to attenuate the progression of brain injury.

Immunogenetic study of diabetes mellitus in relation to HLA DQ and DR

open access: yesIndian Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism, 2020
Introduction: Type-1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) which is also known as insulin-dependent diabetes is diagnosed mainly during childhood and accounts for approximately 5%–10% of all cases of DM. In India, early onset diabetes (

Combination Versus Monotherapy in Acute Anti‐LGI1 Encephalitis: A Real‐World Dose Optimization Analysis

open access: yesNeuropsychopharmacology Reports, Volume 46, Issue 2, June 2026.
Combined IVIg and 500 mg/day IVMP achieve superior efficacy over monotherapies in anti‐LGI1 encephalitis, with optimal safety. Higher‐dose IVMP (1000 mg) accelerates response but increases adverse events, particularly in diabetic patients. Cognitive deficits persist post‐treatment, necessitating long‐term management.
