Enzymes Involved in Antioxidant and Detoxification Processes Present Changes in the Expression Levels of Their Coding Genes under the Stress Caused by the Presence of Antimony in Tomato

open access: yesPlants
Currently, there is an increasing presence of heavy metals and metalloids in soils and water due to anthropogenic activities. However, the biggest problem caused by this increase is the difficulty in recycling these elements and their high permanence in ...

Spatiotemporal Regulation of STING Activity by Linear Ubiquitination Governs Antiviral Immunity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study uncovers a spatiotemporal regulation of STING activity by linear ubiquitination in antiviral immunity. At the early stage of the infection, LUBAC promotes STING linear ubiquitination to drive its trafficking from the ER to the Golgi apparatus for activation.

The role of glutathione-S-transferase polymorphisms on clinical outcome of ALI/ARDS patient treated with N-acetylcysteine [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
SummaryOxidative stress has a proven role in pathophysiology of acute respiratory distress syndrome. The antioxidant drugs, especially N-acetylcysteine (NAC) have been used for years to overcome oxidative stress effects in patients.

Metabolism of hydroperoxy-phospholipids in human hepatoma HepG2 cells

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1996
Two enzymatic mechanisms have been proposed for the metabolism of hydroperoxy-phospholipids: i) the combined action of phospholipase A2 and glutathione peroxidase, and/or ii) direct enzymatic reduction.

High‐Efficiency Carriers’ Separation Strategy Based Ultrasmall‐Bandgap CuWO4 Sono‐Enhances GSH Antagonism for Cuproptosis Cascade Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study prepares copper tungstate (CuWO4, CWO) nanoparticles for synergistic sono‐enhanced cuproptosis‐based cancer therapy. With an ultrasmall bandgap (1.71 eV), CWO facilitates efficient charge carrier separation under ultrasound, enhancing the generation of reactive oxygen species and the controlled release of Cu2+ ions cascade amplify oxidative ...
