Ideally, metabolic control with sulfonylureas should be maintained for 24 hours. To determine an optimal glyburide dosage schedule, the effects of glyburide once (every morning) or twice daily and chlorpropamide once daily (every morning) were compared in 18 men with non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus in a randomized, double-blind fashion.

The Journal of Maternal-Fetal & Neonatal Medicine, 2010
Over the past decade, several studies have been published describing the use of glyburide for the treatment of women with gestational diabetes (GDM). These studies include randomized prospective trials, prospective studies, and cohort studies. With a total of more than 1000 patients, they encompass a wide range of patient populations and treatment ...

Prolonged Hypoglycemic Crisis Associated with Glyburide
Pharmacotherapy: The Journal of Human Pharmacology and Drug Therapy, 1997An elderly patient taking glyburide 5 mg/day for noninsulin‐dependent diabetes mellitus was hospitalized because of severe hypoglycemia. Laboratory results indicated both renal and hepatic abnormalities were present at the time of admission. Despite infusion of 10% dextrose and supplemental boluses of 50% dextrose, the hypoglycemic crisis persisted for

Development of a glyburide‐metformin fixed combination tablet with optimized glyburide particle size
Drug Development Research, 2005AbstractThe bioavailability‐guided development of a fixed combination tablet formulation of glyburide and metformin hydrochloride, resulting in the identification of specific particle properties for the glyburide component that confer desirable in vivo performance, is described.

Glyburide Transport Across the Human Placenta
Obstetrics & Gynecology, 2015To estimate the magnitude of transplacental transfer of glyburide in women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM).A prospective, observational study was conducted on women with GDM on glyburide therapy. On delivery admission, the glyburide dose and time of last dose were recorded.

The Second Generation Sulfonylureas: Glipizide and Glyburide
The Diabetes Educator, 1985Glyburide and glipizide are approved by the FDA for treatment of symptomatic and asymp tomatic NIDDM patients in whom hyperglycemia cannot be satisfactorily controlled by diet and exercise. Pharmacology studies suggest that glyburide and glipizide sensitize the beta cells of the pancreas to release insulin only in the presence of elevated serum glucose

Glyburide for Gestational Diabetes
JAMA Pediatrics, 2015Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) remains a major clinical challenge and is likely to remain so as the numbers of women with hyperglycemia in pregnancy continue to increase. The rising incidence has followed the changing demographic characteristics of pregnant women, such as older age and increasing body mass index, coupled with new stricter ...

Effect of glyburide on hepatic glucose metabolism
The American Journal of Medicine, 1990Glyburide, along with the other second-generation oral hypoglycemic agent glipizide, has been used as adjunctive therapy for the treatment of non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus. After glyburide therapy, basal glycemia and glucose response to a meal are greatly improved.

Conformation of Glyburide in the Solid State and in Solution
Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1986Nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy was combined with X-ray crystallography to determine the solution and solid-state conformations of glyburide (C23H28CIN3O5S). In solution, there is apparently free rotation about several of the single bonds. Crystals of glyburide belong to space group P2(1)/n with a = 9.414(3)A, b = 17.591(5)A, c = 14.410(4)A ...

Glyburide of insulinebij zwangerschapsdiabetes?
