Effect of glyburide on myocardial metabolism and function
The American Journal of Medicine, 1985Exposure of perfused rat hearts to the second-generation sulfonylurea glyburide led to a dramatic increase in glycolytic flux and lactate production. Maximal response in the absence of insulin occurred at a concentration of 2.8 microM and resulted in a 45 percent increase in the glucose utilization rate.

Glyburide-ciprofloxacin interaction with resistant hypoglycemia
Annals of Emergency Medicine, 2000Glyburide, a second-generation sulfonylurea hypoglycemic agent, is metabolized by the P-450 hepatic enzyme system. Ciprofloxacin, a widely used quinolone antibiotic, is a recognized P-450 enzyme inhibitor. Conflicting data exist in the medical literature on the ability of quinolone antibiotics to inhibit glyburide hepatic metabolism.

Slow Elimination of Glyburide in NIDDM Subjects
Diabetes Care, 1994OBJECTIVE To determine the terminal elimination half-life of glyburide in non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM) subjects after cessation of long-term treatment. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS Ten NIDDM patients (5 of each sex, 36-72 years old,

Cyclic AMP Phosphodiesterase in Diabetes: Effect of Glyburide
Diabetes, 1986Low-Michaelis constant cAMP phosphodiesterase (PDE; EC3.1.4.C) activity is inhibited in tissues of rats with type I ketosis-prone diabetes and is restored to normal by insulin treatment. To determine whether the oral hypoglycemic agent glyburide affected tissue cAMP PDE activity in non-insulin-dependent oral agent-treatable diabetes, cAMP PDE activity ...
