Two-Step Purification of Glycerol as a Value Added by Product From the Biodiesel Production Process

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2019
For every ton of biodiesel produced, about 100 kg of glycerol is also generated as a by-product. The traditional method of removing glycerol is mainly by gravity separation or centrifugation.

Slow rheological mode in glycerol and glycerol-water mixtures [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Chemistry Chemical Physics, 2017
Glycerol-water mixtures were studied at molar concentrations ranging from $x_\text{gly} = 1$ (pure glycerol) to $x_\text{gly}=0.3$ using shear mechanical spectroscopy. We observed a low frequency mode in neat glycerol, similar to what is usually reported for monohydroxy alcohols.

Organic Carbonate Production Utilizing Crude Glycerol Derived as By-Product of Biodiesel Production: A Review

open access: yesEnergies, 2020
As a promising alternative renewable liquid fuel, biodiesel production has increased and eventually led to an increase in the production of its by-product, crude glycerol. The vast generation of glycerol has surpassed the market demand.

Glycerol hypersensitivity in a Drosophila model for glycerol kinase deficiency is affected by mutations in eye pigmentation genes. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
Glycerol kinase plays a critical role in metabolism by converting glycerol to glycerol 3-phosphate in an ATP dependent reaction. In humans, glycerol kinase deficiency results in a wide range of phenotypic variability; patients can have severe metabolic ...

The cryoprotective effects of erythritol on frozen-thawed ram sperm [PDF]

open access: yesThe Iranian Journal of Veterinary Science and Technology, 2019
This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of replacing glycerol with erythritol on cryopreservation of ram spermatozoa. Semen samples (n=24) were collected from four rams in six times. In each session, the collected ejaculates (n=4) were pooled and
