An Expanded Gas-Grain Model for Interstellar Glycine [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The study of the chemical evolution of glycine in the interstellar medium is one of challenging topics in astrochemistry. Here, we present the chemical modeling of glycine in hot cores using the state-of-the-art three-phase chemical model NAUTILUS, which is focused on the latest glycine chemistry.

Enhancing Form Stability: Shrink‐Resistant Hydrogels Made of Interpenetrating Networks of Recombinant Spider Silk and Collagen‐I

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A shrinkage‐resistant hydrogel is developed to confer post‐fabrication shape fidelity. The hydrogel, based on recombinant spider silk protein eADF4(C16)‐RGD and collagen‐I, exhibits tunable mechanical properties and shrink‐resistance in the presence of fibroblasts as well as muscle cells.

The nature of highly anisotropic free-electron-like states in a glycinate monolayer on Cu(100) [PDF]

open access: yesJ. Phys. Cond. Matter 20, 312002 (2008), 2007
The free-electron-like state observed in a scanning tunneling spectroscopy study of a chiral p(2x4) monolayer of glycinate ions on the Cu(100) surface [K. Kanazawa et al, J. Am. Chem. Soc. 129, 740 (2007)] is shown from density functional theory calculations to originate from a Cu Shockley surface state at the surface Brillouin zone boundary of the ...

Spatial variation of grassland canopy affects soil wetting patterns and preferential flow

open access: yesHydrological Processes, Volume 36, Issue 12, December 2022., 2022
Spatially heterogeneous canopy and pre‐event soil moisture conditions changed soil‐wetting patterns. Taller grass, together with drier soil, weakens soil moisture response, probably because of uneven water input and dryness induced preferential flow. Abstract Canopies shape net precipitation patterns, which are spatially heterogeneous and control soil ...

Novas características para diferenciação de cultivares de soja pela análise discriminante New traits for differentiation of soybeans using discriminant analysis

open access: yesCiência Rural, 2008
A diferenciação de cultivares é realizada por margem mínima de descritores específicos de cada espécie. Atualmente, são usados cerca de 38 descritores entre os obrigatórios e os adicionais para diferenciar cultivares de soja.

A Rigorous Attempt to Verify Interstellar Glycine [PDF]

open access: yesAstrophys.J. 619 (2005) 914-930, 2004
In 2003, Kuan, Charnley, and co-workers reported the detection of interstellar glycine (NH2CH2COOH) based on observations of 27 lines in 19 different spectral bands in one or more of the sources Sgr B2(N-LMH), Orion KL, and W51 e1/e2. They supported their detection report with rotational temperature diagrams for all three sources.

Detectability of Glycine in Solar-type System Precursors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Glycine (NH2CH2COOH) is the simplest amino acid relevant for life. Its detection in the interstellar medium is key to understand the formation mechanisms of pre-biotic molecules and their subsequent delivery onto planetary systems. Glycine has extensively been searched for toward hot molecular cores, although these studies did not yield any firm ...
