Platelet Glycoprotein VI Haplotypes and the Presentation of Paediatric Sepsis
Thrombosis and Haemostasis, 2018AbstractSepsis triggers a complex series of pathophysiologic events involving inflammatory responses and coagulation abnormalities. While circulating blood platelets are well-characterized for their contributions to coagulation, increasingly platelet-dependent effects on inflammation are being recognized.

Interaction of calmodulin with the cytoplasmic domain of platelet glycoprotein VI
Blood, 2002The platelet collagen receptor, glycoprotein VI (GPVI), and GPIb-IX-V, which binds von Willebrand factor, initiate platelet aggregation at low or high shear stress, respectively. We recently reported that positively charged, membrane-proximal sequences within cytoplasmic domains of GPIbβ and GPV of GPIb-IX-V bind calmodulin.
