Thiasugars: Potential Glycosidase Inhibitors
Current Topics in Medicinal Chemistry, 2009The inhibitory activities against glycosidases of synthetic thiasugars, the ring sulfur analogs of carbohydrate, were surveyed with a special emphasis on our own studies. 5-Thio-L-fucose, the ring sulfur analog of L-fucose, was the first thiopyran that shows a K(i) value in the micromolar range against a glycosidase. The structure-activity relationship

Powerful probes for glycosidases: novel, fluorescently tagged glycosidase inhibitors.
Bioorganic & medicinal chemistry letters, 2002Amino-1,2,5-trideoxy-2,5-imino-D-mannitol was fluorescently tagged by reaction with dansyl chloride at N-1 or by attachment of a dansyl amide bearing spacer to this centre. Compounds obtained are highly potent inhibitors of beta-glucosidase exhibiting Ki values in the single figure nanomolar range.

AbstractGlycosidases isolated from the mill fractions made from soft and hard wheat grists were studied. α‐Arabinosidase, α‐galactosidase, β‐galactosidase, β‐glucosidase, β‐glucuronidase, β‐mannosidase and β‐xylosidase activities in wheat flour, germ and bran were determined under standard dough conditions. There were no significant differences between

Synovial Fluid Glycosidase Activity
Scandinavian Journal of Rheumatology, 1972One hundred thirty-five joint fluids were evaluated with respect to enzymatic activity of three glycosidases. These enzymes, β-N-acetylglucosaminidase, β-glucuronidase, and β-galactosidase, were markedly elevated in inflammatory joint effusions and minimally elevated in osteoarthritis.

β-Glycosidase from Sulfolobus solfataricus
2001Publisher Summary The hydrolysis of glycosidic bonds is crucial for several cell functions, such as energy uptake, cell wall expansion, and turnover of signaling molecules. Because the diversity of saccharides, there is a wide variety of glycosyl-hydrolases that have been classified in more than 74 families based on amino acid sequence similarities ...

Selection of a large number of different strains of hyphal fungi of the genusAspergillus, capable of production of extracellular mannosidase and mannanase type enzymes, was carried out. Before cultivating the strains on liquid synthetic medium containing 0.5%Saccharomyces cerevisiae mannan as the carbon source, they were adapted by multiple passage on ...

Conditions required to stabilize ß-galactosidase activity in apple extracts were found. ß-Galactosidase was most stable at neutral pH and in the presence of certain additives, in particular PVP and CETAB, which were used in the purification. Most of the glycosidase activities present in the apple were effectively extracted with 50 mmol/L phosphate ...
