Development of recombinant goatpox virus expressing Echinococcus granulosus EG95 vaccine antigen

Journal of Virological Methods, 2018
Goatpox disease and cystic hydatidosis may be simultaneously endemic in a given area. Their pathogens are goatpox virus (GPV) and Echinococcus granulosus (E. granulosus), respectively. Both E. granulosus EG95 subunit vaccine and live-attenuated GPV AV41 vaccine have been widely used for prevention of both diseases in China.

Construction of an attenuated goatpox virus AV41 strain by deleting the TK gene and ORF8-18

Antiviral Research, 2018
Goatpox virus (GTPV) is prevalent in goats and is associated with high mortality. This virus causes fever, skin nodules, lesions in the respiratory and lymph node enlargement. Considering the safety risks and side effects of vaccination with attenuated live GPTV vaccine strain AV41, an attenuated goatpox virus (GTPV-TK-ORF), was constructed by deleting

Infection of goats with goatpox virus triggers host antiviral defense through activation of innate immune signaling

Research in Veterinary Science, 2016
Goatpox, caused by goatpox virus (GTPV), is one of the most serious infectious diseases associated with high morbidity and mortality in goats. However, little is known about involvement of host innate immunity during the GTPV infection. For this, goats were experimentally infected with GTPV.

Complete genome sequence analysis of goatpox virus isolated from China shows high variation

Veterinary Microbiology, 2014
Goatpox virus (GTPV), a member of the Capripoxvirus genus of the Poxviridae family, is the causative agent of variolo caprina (goatpox). GTPV can cause significant economic losses of domestic ruminants in endemic regions and can threaten breeding stocks.

Expression of P32 protein of goatpox virus in Pichia pastoris and its potential use as a diagnostic antigen in ELISA

Journal of Virological Methods, 2009
The present study was undertaken to express goatpox virus (GTPV) P32 protein in Pichia pastoris and evaluate its potential use as a diagnostic antigen in ELISA. The amplified P32 gene of GTPV was cloned into pPICZalphaA vector and characterized by PCR, restriction enzyme digestion and sequencing.

Silver nanoparticles inhibit goatpox virus replication

Archives of Virology, 2023
No effective drugs against goatpox virus (GTPV) exist despite the high morbidity and mortality (up to 100%) caused by this virus. In this study, the antiviral activity of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) against GTPV, a member of the genus Capripoxvirus, was evaluated. Piper betle leaf extract was used as a reducing agent during the biological synthesis of

Cytopathogenicity and Neutralization of Goatpox Virus in Cell Culture

Research in Veterinary Science, 1970
The cytopathic changes caused by goatpox virus in lamb and kid kidney and testicular cell monolayers were characterized by degenerative changes in the cell cytoplasm and nucleus and the appearance of intracyto-plasmic inclusions which were DNA in nature. Goatpox virus was neutralized by homologous immune serum.

Prokaryotic expression, purification and evaluation of goatpox virus ORF117 protein as a diagnostic antigen in indirect ELISA to detect goatpox

Archives of Virology, 2019
Goatpox is an economically significant transboundary viral disease of goats that is caused by goatpox virus (GTPV). This study describes the prokaryotic expression of the GTPV ORF117 protein, a homologue of vaccinia virus A27L, and evaluation of its diagnostic potential in ELISA.

Molecular Evidence and Sequence Analysis of Goatpox Virus Isolates from Assam, India: An Emerging Viral Disease of Goats

Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, India Section B: Biological Sciences, 2021
This study describes the first confirmed identification and phylogenetic analysis of goatpox virus (GTPV) isolates from outbreaks occurred in 2016 in Assam, a North-Eastern state of India. A total of four different outbreaks involving non-descriptive local breeds (n = 135) in which skin scabs and serum samples from affected goats were investigated, and

Identification of four goatpox virus outbreaks in Xinjiang of China in 2010

Proceedings 2011 International Conference on Human Health and Biomedical Engineering, 2011
Goat pox is contagious viral diseases of small ruminants and are caused by goat pox virus that belong to genus Capripoxvirus of Poxviridae family. The disease epidemics cause significant economic losses for sheepindustry. This communication highlights clinico-epidemiological observations from the four goat pox outbreaks in Xinjiang China in 2010.
