The airway goblet cell

International Journal of Biochemistry and Cell Biology, 2003
The two principal features of airway goblet cells are rapid secretion of mucin onto the airway surface and increase in number (hyperplasia) with chronic inhaled 'insult'. The first is associated with homeostasis, the latter with pathophysiology. Myristoylated alanine-rich C kinase (MARCKS) is a key molecule regulating mucin exocytosis, a process also ...

Goblet cell adenocarcinoma

Seminars in Diagnostic Pathology
Appendix, considered a vestigial and disposable organ, has been long neglected as a source of abdominal tumors. Among the appendiceal tumors, goblet cell adenocarcinoma (GCA) is a rare primary epithelial neoplasm which has undergone multiple name changes and classifications in recent years, adding to confusion surrounding this unique amphicrine tumor ...

Goblet cell carcinoid of the appendix

Cancer, 1974
Twelve tumors of the appendix are described which show histologic features different from both ordinary carcinoid and adenocarcinoma. The principal cell type has a close resemblance to the normal goblet cell in the epithelium of the intestinal tract. Paneth's and argentaffin cells were present in considerable numbers in some of these tumors.

Goblet cell carcinoid of the appendix

Human Pathology, 1982
A goblet cell carcinoid (adenocarcinoid) of the appendix was studied ultrastructurally and found to have features at variance with those of previously reported cases. The findings support a hypothesis that adenocarcinoids represent a composite, biphasic neoplasm of two morphologically differentiated cells, each derived from a common endodermal ...
