Human intestinal goblet cell mucin

Canadian Journal of Biochemistry, 1976
Goblet cell mucin (GCM) has been purified for the first time from mucosal scrapings of human small intestine. Proteolytic enzymes and organic solvents were avoided during the isolation procedure. The mucin was purified by Sepharose 4B and 2B column chromatography of high-speed supernatant fractions.

Goblet Cell Carcinoid/Carcinoma: An Update

Advances in Anatomic Pathology, 2019
Goblet cell carcinoid (GCC) or goblet cell carcinoma is a unique mixed endocrine-exocrine neoplasm that is almost exclusively seen in the appendix. The hallmark of GCC is the concentric infiltration of the appendiceal wall by small tight clusters, nests or cords of tumor cells that exhibit a goblet cell morphology with a small compressed nucleus and ...

Goblet Cells In The Developing Human Nose

Acta Oto-Laryngologica, 1975
In a material of 56 foetuses and prematures, in the 9th to the 30th week, the nasal mucosa was removed in toto and stained with PAS-alcian blue, PAS, and the osmium whole-amount methods. The development, spread, distribution, and density of goblet cells were studied.

Functional biology of intestinal goblet cells

American Journal of Physiology-Cell Physiology, 1991
Goblet cells reside throughout the length of the small and large intestine and are responsible for the production and maintenance of the protective mucus blanket by synthesizing and secreting high-molecular-weight glycoproteins known as mucins.

Mucosubstances in the colonic goblet cells of the ferret

Acta Histochemica, 1981
Mucosubstances in the colonic goblet cells of the ferret (Putorius [Mustela] furo) were studied histochemically. They contained predominantly sulphated mucosubstances in the proximal colon and only sulphated mucosubstances in the distal colon. The sulphated mucosubstances were of weakly acidic nature.
