Goblet cell carcinoid of the appendix

open access: yesWorld Journal of Surgical Oncology, 2005
Background Goblet cell carcinoid (GCC) of the appendix is a rare neoplasm that share histological features of both adenocarcinoma and carcinoid tumor. While its malignant potential remains unclear, GCC's are more aggressive than conventional carcinoid ...

The Bile Acid Signaling Axis: Deciphering the Roles of FXR and TGR5 in Hepatic Steatosis, Fibrosis, and Cancer

open access: yesPharmacology Research &Perspectives, Volume 14, Issue 5, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Bile acids (BAs) serve not only as emulsifiers for lipid digestion but also as essential signaling molecules, governing various physiological and pathological processes through their interaction with the farnesoid X receptor (FXR) and the takeda G protein‐coupled receptor 5 (TGR5).

Cystic Fibrosis and Colorectal Cancer Risk: Reprogramming of the Intestinal Epithelial Niche and Cell‐State Plasticity in the CFTR Modulator Era

open access: yesCell Proliferation, Volume 59, Issue 10, October 2026.
In cystic fibrosis disorder, CFTR dysfunction drives multilayered intestinal niche disruption, including dysbiosis, inflammation, hypoxia, metabolic stress and genotoxic injury, promoting cell‐state plasticity and a pre‐neoplastic ecosystem. CFTR modulators and environmental factors may partially reshape these processes, highlighting opportunities for ...

Reconstruction of native cellular microanatomy in a novel bioengineered full thickness human nasal mucosal construct

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, Volume 249, Issue 4, Page 950-969, October 2026.
Bioengineered tissue constructs are vital technologies employed in in vitro testing of both fundamental biological principles and industrial screening practices. Current approaches to modelling the nasal mucosa in vitro are not representative and are associated with limitations that impact their reliability and predictive value.

Kynurenine promotes the goblet cell differentiation of HT-29 colon carcinoma cells by modulating Wnt, Notch and AhR signals

open access: yesOncology Reports, 2018
Various amino acids regulate cell growth and differentiation. In the present study, we examined the ability of HT-29 cells to differentiate into goblet cells in RPMI and DMEM which are largely different in the amounts of numerous amino acids. Most of the HT-29 cells differentiated into goblet cells downregulating the stem cell marker Lgr5 when cultured

12-0-Tetradecanoyl phorbol-13-acetate induced differentiation in human lung squamous carcinoma cells. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
Three human lung squamous carcinoma cell lines (NX002, CX140 and CX143) demonstrate features of squamous differentiation including involucrin synthesis and competence to form cornified envelopes.

Difficult to Distinguish from Goblet Cell Carcinoid of the Appendix and One Case of Primary Signet Ring Cell Carcinoma

open access: yesNippon Daicho Komonbyo Gakkai Zasshi, 2010

The use of automated quantitative analysis to evaluate epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition associated proteins in clear cell renal cell carcinoma [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Background: Epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) has recently been implicated in the initiation and progression of renal cell carcinoma (RCC). Some mRNA gene expression studies have suggested a link between the EMT phenotype and poorer clinical ...
