Goblet cell carcinoid of the appendix: a specific type of carcinoma
Histopathology, 2007Aims: Goblet cell carcinoid is a poorly understood tumour of the appendix. The aim of this study was to determine whether it should be regarded as a separate entity or as a variant of classical carcinoid. Methods and results: The immunohistochemical expression pattern of 21 markers and the mutation status of KRas codon 12 were determined in 16 goblet ...

Gastric goblet cell carcinoma concurrent with a neuroendocrine tumor
Pathology - Research and Practice, 2020Goblet cell carcinoma, a tumor that is assumed to originate from crypt base stem cells, is a distinct type of tumor, that occurs typically in the appendix, however, extra-appendiceal locations were also described in few cases. We herein present a unique case of a 48-year-old male with a diagnosis of primary gastric Goblet cell carcinoma that was ...

Goblet Cell Carcinoid/Carcinoma: An Update
Advances in Anatomic Pathology, 2019Goblet cell carcinoid (GCC) or goblet cell carcinoma is a unique mixed endocrine-exocrine neoplasm that is almost exclusively seen in the appendix. The hallmark of GCC is the concentric infiltration of the appendiceal wall by small tight clusters, nests or cords of tumor cells that exhibit a goblet cell morphology with a small compressed nucleus and ...

Adjuvant chemotherapy in nonmetastatic goblet cell carcinomas: A population-based analysis.
Journal of Clinical Oncology, 2021e16203 Background: Goblet cell carcinoma (GCC) is a rare mixed endocrine-neuroendocrine tumor arising almost exclusively in the appendix. The optimal management of these patients is still unclear, given GCC rarity and the difficulty in proper pathology diagnosis.

A goblet cell carcinoma of the appendix presenting as an acute appendicitis: a case report
Acta Chirurgica Belgica, 2018Background: A goblet cell carcinoma of the appendix is a rare neoplasm with histological features of both adenocarcinomas and carcinoid tumours. It has a more aggressive behaviour in comparison to the more common classic neuroendocrine appendiceal tumours.

Composite glandular-endocrine cell carcinoma (CGECC) is recognized as a special type of gastric tumor composed of ordinary adenocarcinoma and neuroendocrine tumors. Goblet cell carcinoid (GCC) is a well-established type of appendiceal carcinoid, but the GCC component has not been well delineated in CGECC of the stomach.

The clinicopathological features of six appendix and five bowel tumours with features of the so-called 'goblet cell carcinoid' are described. By light microscopy, these tumours were composed predominantly of mucous cells, together with variable proportions of endocrine and Paneth cells.

Many human colorectal adenocarcinoma cell lines have been developed. However, differentiated type colorectal cancer cell lines, particularly, the goblet‐cell differentiated type, are scarce. In the present study a novel colorectal adenocarcinoma cell line (designated as COLM‐6) with predominant goblet‐cell differentiation was established from the ...
