Histological and Histochemical studies of Esophagus in Mabuya aurata septemaeniata
The wall of the esophagus in Mabuya aurata septemaeniata as in high vertebrates consists of four layers, mucosa, submucosa, muscularis and serosa. Mucosa forms many unorganized short and long folds penetrate inside the esophageal cavity.

Goblet Cell Carcinoid of the Appendix.
A 47-year-old man was admitted with appendicitis, and appendectomy was performed. On microscopic examination of the resected specimen, the presence of goblet cell carcinoid in the tip of appendix was revealed. This tumor showed an aggressive nature with perineural and vascular invasion around the appendiceal serosa.

Novel insights into the study of goblet cell hypersecretion in allergic rhinitis
Goblet cell hypersecretion is a hallmark of airway inflammation and is driven by complex neuroimmune regulation involving submucosal glands and goblet cells. Although studies have focused on mast cell degranulation as a critical driver of nasal secretion,

Modulation of Conjunctival Goblet Cell Function by Inflammatory Cytokines
Ocular surface inflammation associated with Sjögren’s syndrome is characterized by a loss of secretory function and alteration in numbers of mucin secreting goblet cells.

Toll-like receptor 4 damages the intestinal epithelial cells by activating endoplasmic reticulum stress in septic rats [PDF]
Background The severity of acute gastrointestinal injury (AGI) is a critical determinant of survival in sepsis. However, there is no specifically interventional management for gastrointestinal dysfunction.

Influence of in ovo inoculation of probiotic strains on the jejunal goblet cell counts and morphometry in peri- and post-hatching chicks [PDF]
The objective of the present study was to evaluate the effects of in ovo inoculation of different probiotic strains (Bacillus subtilis, Enterococcus faecium, and Pediococcus acidilactici) on jejunal goblet cells counts and morphometry in chicken ...

Lineage-specific expression of bestrophin-2 and bestrophin-4 in human intestinal epithelial cells. [PDF]
Intestinal epithelial cells (IECs) regulate the absorption and secretion of anions, such as HCO3(-) or Cl(-). Bestrophin genes represent a newly identified group of calcium-activated Cl(-) channels (CaCCs).

Markers to identify goblet cells.
Identification of goblet cells in porcine small intestine and colon are shown. Goblet cells, the mucus producing cells, were identified by immunostaining for MUC2, a component of mucin, and UEA-1, a lectin that specifically binds to alpha-linked fructose

The infection of chicken tracheal epithelial cells with a H6N1 avian influenza virus. [PDF]
Sialic acids (SAs) linked to galactose (Gal) in α2,3- and α2,6-configurations are the receptors for avian and human influenza viruses, respectively. We demonstrate that chicken tracheal ciliated cells express α2,3-linked SA, while goblet cells mainly ...
