Excited States of Gold(I) Compounds, Luminescence and Gold‐Gold Bonding [PDF]
It has long been established by Khan that the superoxide anion, , generates singlet oxygen, , during dismutation. Auranofin, gold‐phosphine thiols, β‐Carotene, and metal‐sulfur compounds can rapidly quench singlet O2. The quenching of the , which exists at 7752 cm-1 above the ground state triplet, may be due to the direct interaction of the singlet O2 ...

Compact focusing grating couplers for silicon-on-insulator integrated circuits [PDF]
—We report experimental results on compact and broadband focusing grating couplers, both in silicon-on-insulator (SOI) and gold on SOI. An eight-fold length reduction of the coupling structure from fiber to photonic wire in SOI, as com-pared to a linear ...

Highly Luminescent Gold(I)–Silver(I) and Gold(I)–Copper(I) Chalcogenide Clusters [PDF]
AbstractThe reactions of [AuClL] with Ag2O, where L represents the heterofunctional ligands PPh2py and PPh2CH2CH2py, give the trigoldoxonium complexes [O(AuL)3]BF4. Treatment of these compounds with thio‐ or selenourea affords the triply bridging sulfide or selenide derivatives [E(AuL)3]BF4 (E=S, Se).

Gold(I) and Gold(III) Trifluoromethyl Derivatives
AbstractTrifluoromethylation of AuCl3 by using the Me3SiCF3/CsF system in THF and in the presence of [PPh4]Br proceeds with partial reduction, yielding a mixture of [PPh4][AuI(CF3)2] (1′) and [PPh4][AuIII(CF3)4] (2′) that can be adequately separated. An efficient method for the high‐yield synthesis of 1′ is also described.
