The Golgi apparatus is a membrane-bound organelle found in essentially all eukaryotic cells, including plants, animals, and fungi. The Golgi stack, with its arrangement of flattened cisternae with fenestrated rims, is the most unique feature of this organelle (Ladinsky et al. 1999).
