Molecular Evaluation of the Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone Receptor
Seminars in Reproductive Medicine, 2000The gonadotropin-releasing hormone receptor (GnRHR) is a guanine nucleotide-binding protein-coupled receptor with a characteristic seven transmembrane domain motif. It transduces the hypothalamic message carried by the decapeptide gonadotropin-releasing hormone.

Regulation of Pituitary Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone Receptors by Gonadal Hormones
Endocrinology, 1981The regulatory role of pituitary gonadotropinreleasing hormone (GnRH) receptors in the control of gonadotropin secretion was investigated in male and female rats after castration and sex steroid hormone replacement. GnRH receptors were measured in homogenates of individual pituitaries by equilibration with 125I-labeled [D-Ser(tBu)6]des-Gly10-GnRH ...

Photodynamic Oncotherapy Mediated by Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone Receptors
Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, 2017Here, we report photodynamic oncotherapies mediated by gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) receptors. We synthesized conjugates 1 and 2 by coupling zinc phthalocyanine (ZnPc) to GnRH analogues. Compared to unmodified ZnPc, conjugates 1 and 2 exhibited higher and more specific phototoxicities to breast cancer cells.

Gonadotropin‐releasing hormone receptor expression in the human prostate
The Prostate, 2001AbstractBACKGROUNDInhibitory effects of gonadotropin‐releasing hormone (GnRH) analogs on prostate cancer cell proliferation, both in vivo and in vitro, indicate the presence of specific binding sites for GnRH on prostate cancer cells. To investigate this issue further, we examined the expression of GnRH receptor (GnRH‐R) mRNA and protein in human ...

RECEPTORS FOR GONADOTROPIN RELEASING HORMONE ARE PRESENT IN RAT OOCYTES
Endocrinology, 1988Specific receptors for gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH) in the rat oocyte have been identified by using two independent methods. Light microscopic autoradiography, utilizing an iodinated biologically active photoaffinity derivative of GnRH, revealed specific binding of the neurohormone to rat oocytes.

Estrogen Receptor-β in the Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone Neuron
Seminars in Reproductive Medicine, 2012Estrogen regulation of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) neuronal activity plays a crucial role in homeostatic regulation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis. Estrogen also coordinates a complex series of physiological changes culminating with a surge of gonadotropin secretion that triggers ovulation of a developed follicle from the ovary ...

Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone and Its Receptors in Rat Brain
Frontiers in Neuroendocrinology, 1994Since the chemical identification of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) in 1971, significant progress has been made in understanding the mechanisms by which GnRH action is mediated in the anterior pituitary. In contrast, relatively little information is available which identifies the intracerebral sites and mechanisms of action of GnRH in the brain.

OPIOIDS MODULATE PITUITARY RECEPTORS FOR GONADOTROPIN-RELEASING HORMONE
Endocrinology, 1983The number of pituitary GnRH receptors (GnRH-BC) is stable throughout the day in ovariectomized-estradiol treated rats, but undergo an acute transient reduction prior to the afternoon gonadotropin surge. To investigate the mechanisms controlling GnRH-BC we studied the effects of opioid-active compounds in this model. Morphine, given at 1400h, abolished

Brain gonadotropin releasing hormone receptors: localization and regulation.
Recent progress in hormone research, 1997In this review, the current information about the location of GnRH receptor protein and GnRH receptor mRNA in the rat central nervous system is summarized as well as the changes that occur in the GnRH receptor mRNA levels during different endocrine conditions of the animals.

Mapping of gonadotropin-releasing hormone receptor binding site
Biochemistry, 1985On the basis of the spatial conformation of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH), we have predicted that aromatic amino acids and at least one carboxyl group are involved in the recognition site of the receptor. Therefore, various specific reagents were examined for their ability to interfere with the binding of GnRH to its receptor.
