Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Converting Level Set Gradients to Shape Gradients [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The level set representation of shapes is useful for shape evolution and is widely used for the minimization of energies with respect to shapes. Many algorithms consider energies depending explicitly on the signed distance function (SDF) associated with a shape, and differentiate these energies with respect to the SDF directly in order to make the ...

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Phenotypic and genotypic characterization of single circulating tumor cells in the follow‐up of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.

Comparative analysis of asbestos body and fiber content in formalin-fixed vs. paraffin-embedded lung tissue

open access: yesFrontiers in Public Health
IntroductionAsbestos body and fiber burdens may be determined using different preparations of lung tissue. Paraffin-embedded tissue requires more complex steps than formalin-fixed tissue.

The PI3Kδ inhibitor roginolisib (IOA‐244) preserves T‐cell function and activity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Identification of novel PI3K inhibitors with limited immune‐related adverse effects is highly sought after. We found that roginolisib and idelalisib inhibit chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) cells and Treg suppressive functions to similar extents, but roginolisib affects cytotoxic T‐cell function and promotion of pro‐inflammatory T helper subsets to a

Passive seismic data processing methods to identify contrast intrasalt interlayers in the geological section of the Astrakhan Arch

open access: yesGeoresursy
The article examines the problem of processing microseismic noise (MN) to identify and evaluate occurrence depth of contrasting geological objects – intersalt interlayers with a potentially high formation pressure.

Gradients on Sets

open access: yes, 2018
For a locally Lipschitz continuous function $f:X\to\mathbb{R}$ the generalized gradient $\partial f(x)$ of Clarke is used to develop some (set-valued) gradient on a set $A\subset X$. Existence, uniqueness and some approximation are considered for optimal descent directions on set $A$.

Identification of serum protein biomarkers for pre‐cancerous lesions associated with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This work identified serum proteins associated with pancreatic epithelial neoplasms (PanINs) and early‐stage PDAC. Proteomics screens assessed genetically engineered mice with abundant PanINs, KPC mice (Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐KrasG12D/+ Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐Trp53R172H/+ Pdx1‐Cre) before PDAC development and also early‐stage PDAC patients (n = 31), compared to benign ...
