A priori estimate for a quasilinear problem depending on the gradient
AbstractThe main purpose of this paper is to establish a priori estimate for positive solutions of some superlinear, quasilinear elliptic equations where the nonlinearity depends on x, u, and ∇u. Our argument does not need a non-existence result for the limit problem obtained by the usual blow-up procedure.

The effect of a step wise change in the pillar density on the dynamics of droplets is investigated via three-dimensional lattice Boltzmann simulations. For the same pillar density gradient but different pillar arrangements, both motion over the gradient ...

VELOCITY GRADIENT OF THE FLOOR EXERCISE [PDF]
The methodological classification of the volume of the exercises is in the basis of the multiannual preparation in gymnastics. A number of authors (Dimitrova, 2015; Borisenko, 2000; Fisenko, 2005; Gaverdovskiy, Smolevskiy, 2014) note that for the ...

Enhanced Approach to Consistency in Gradient-Dependent Plasticity [PDF]
This note proposes a modification of gradient-dependent plasticity to improve convergence. In gradient-dependent plasticity, the consistency condition, which results in a differential equation with respect to the plastic multiplier, is solved simultaneously with the equilibrium equation.

The unpredictably eruptive dynamics of spruce budworm populations in eastern Canada
We examine historical population data for spruce budworm from several locations through the period 1930–1997, and use density‐dependent recruitment curves to test whether the pattern of population growth over time is more consistent with Royama's (1984; Ecological Monographs 54:429–462) linear R(t) model of harmonic oscillation at Green River New ...

On the corotation torque in a radiatively inefficient disk
We consider the angular momentum exchange at the corotation resonance between a two-dimensional gaseous disk and a uniformly rotating external potential, assuming that the disk flow is adiabatic.

In this paper, we study coupled elliptic systems with gradient dependent right-hand sides and nonlinear boundary conditions, where the left-hand sides are driven by so-called double phase operators.

Network topology drives population temporal variability in experimental habitat networks
Habitat patches connected by dispersal pathways form habitat networks. We explored how network topology affects population outcomes in laboratory experiments using a model species (Daphnia carinata). Central habitat nodes in complex lattice networks exhibited lower temporal variability in population sizes, suggesting they support more stable ...

Exact scaling exponents in Korn and Korn-type inequalities for cylindrical shells [PDF]
Understanding asymptotics of gradient components in relation to the symmetrized gradient is im- portant for the analysis of buckling of slender structures.

occumb: An R package for site occupancy modeling of eDNA metabarcoding data
This study introduces a new R package, occumb, for the convenient application of site occupancy modeling using environmental DNA (eDNA) metabarcoding data. We outline a data analysis workflow, including data setup, model fitting, model assessment, and comparison of potential study settings based on model predictions, all of which can be performed using
